Artwork Description:
This work has a computer animation that has been exhibited with it, with compelling effect. It is a Mixed Media wall hanging Assemblage, with a watercolor painting comprising the portrait part. There is a Computer Animation of the same image (with music and some variation) that was exhibited looping underneath the picture. This image, like so many I do, came to my mind's eye spontaneously, and after much thought, the title. It has a double intention, as "the issue of truth" is often present in large and small ways in our daily lives. Some of us choose to ignore it, some laugh at the idea, some worship it, most of us at least respect it. The flowers emerging from the open mouth of a woman have nothing to do with "sweet breath" or "sweet words". They seemed to say truth, or "something true", because, idealistically, truth is beautiful (though, as we know, it is not always). "Issue" has alternative meanings, as an essential point, or a matter of discussion; but also as a flow, to give out, to circulate, a discharge, or offspring (as in the Biblical "the issue of her womb"). The woman opens her mouth and flowers issue forth.
