Artwork Description:
This is a kaddish for a deceased woman. The text ends in a tear, and around it are pledges to give tzedaka (charity) in behalf of the deceased. The two hands with the open palms symbolize that one leaves the material world empty handed, but the spiritual legacy remains and is shown around the text: this woman was a modest loving mother who leaves children to carry on her teachings.
I make a lot of calligraphic texts like this one, you can contact me if you want something customized.
Alexander the Great ordered to let his hands stick out of the bier during the funeral procession to show that a king who possesed more land than most (if any) of his predecessors went empty handed on his last road.
