Artwork Description:

I studied medieval Hebrew and Arabic in University in Leyden (Holland). The beautiful poems of Yehudah haLevi, Ibn Gabirol, Ibn Ezra and their contemporaries have inspired me to make a set of drawings which combine the text of their poems with their images. This one her describes the world as a prison from which there is no escape. You can find some of those beautiful poems in The Penguin Book of Hebrew Verse. I have illustrated Dutch, German, French, Italian, Latin, Greek and English poetry as well, please contact me if you want an image for a poem you love. It can be framed on request.
