Artwork Description:
Colorful Mona
This afternoon I wanted to draw a new sculpture to Louvre.
Aude Caumon from the Communication Department at Louvre
did not like my first draft - neither did I.
The new one became a Colorful Mona - "mona I".
I was so excited, I made 15 new motifs for sale as collages cut in
silk-screen print paper - a unique product of mine.
The first time I was in Paris I was very inspired and made a
picture of Mona.
One of 4 motifs from Paris.
My point of departure and inspiration was from the lines in a photo copy master
I found one day (in a book I believe was from Rank Xerox) at a printing company
in Skaerup by Vejle, JMC A/S.
The lines were fantastic - my intention was to express Mona Lisa by substituting the lines by my colors.
There are no lines in my style - only colors.
That was in 1987.
This afternoon on 20th May 2003 I redraw Mona on my computer in Microsoft Draw 1.01,
using a digital photo of my Paris Mona from 1987.
Concerning Copyrights:
If you know the photo copy master from 1987
and see my picture of Mona, you will be able to see a resemblance.
But I do not believe a photo copy master could be subject to any copyright.
As I have redrawn Mona twice and there are no lines in my style,
only bright colored fragments of a collage,
I do not at all believe my art work could be any copyright violation.
If however - despite of the above - there is a copyright owner,
and the photo copy master is subject to any copyright under these conditions
please contact me immediately on lonvig@mail. dk.
I'll pay the framing - you'll pay the shipping.
