Artists Describing Their Art:
Hisham Zreiq - My art is a private perspective on life, private pains and disappointments, society, Death and a philosophical look at life. Death is the source for creation and the motor of life. Crucifixion a symbol for pain, pain caused by social, political and religious systems. I think that art is another way to communicate, to express my ideas , for me art should have a message of a sort. This is the way I saw art when I was a little boy trying to express his Ideas with simple drawings, and this is the way I see art when working on my digital art or writing poetry today. Some times I ask myself, if we can reach people through "reason"! but I think its better to get to people's hearts through emotions, through ART, and from there we might get to their reason. Or maybe use extremes in art - and that is what I usually try - in order to make people think and ponder after their emotions become tens. Then their analyses might bring with it reasoning. ...
Patti Meador - I first became interested in digital photo manipulation about a year and a half ago with the onset of a disability allowing me time, and a need to express myself creatively. My interest in digital photography was born with the gift of my first digital camera (Olympus C4000) for Christmas 2002. My'hobby' has since escalated to a full fledged passion! The opportunities for artistic expression available with digital imaging (cameras and software) are endless, and with God's grace my intention is to explore them all til my dying breath! I live with my husband of 30+ years, and 3 dogs (2 Boston Terriers and Boxer) in a small village in Ohio (US). I do hope that all who view my work take a small portion of the inspiration that I felt in it's creation away with them. More of my work can be seen on my various web sites, and prints, apparel and various gift items available via my Zazzle and Printfection shops, as well as select works on Art.com and Allposters. Monica Malbeck - I was born and raised in Romania, attending art school there. I graduated in 1974 from a highly successful art pilot program at age 18. Where I was offered exposure to all facets of art from visual communications to industrial design. This was followed by a successful career in fashion design with clients throughout Europe, U.S., and Japan. In 1990 I moved to the United States, and in 1996 I was introduced to digital media falling in love instantly with its versatility. I have been exploring digital design since then, trying to mix digital color and the illusions of texture and shape to capture fleeting, momentary thoughts and my feelings. My style varies depending on the subject being captured, as I always try to let the subject dictate the style rather than try to impose a repetitive style format. I have retired to Hawaii very early from a career as a fashion consultant, and decided to focus on art. My very first submission of my artwork to an international competition in Italy, was chosen among the finalists. I am a self-taught digital artist, and I like to explore a broad range of subjects. In my gallery you will...
Tom Miller - My work is Rinky-Dink in nature; that being to do the least amount of effort with all the wrong tools for all the wrong reasons at the wrong time and place. Magic Marker is my specialty, but I often dabble in "fake" painting on the internet with shareware paint programs I download from random sites, glitter glue, xerox copies of originals (the originals then get destroyed and the xerox copies become the original work), and painting with my butt. I think of my art as generally worthless since nobody ever buys any of it. But I continue making it because they say that you live on in your work, and that is why my art is so silly. -- Tom Miller, Artist, UFO Expert...
Eduardo Diaz - Statement My name is Eduardo DIaz and Iim a Mexican artist residing in the Bay Area since 2001. In my work I express different elements of Mexican culture, while emphasizing its Native American heritage. I incorporate native themes and images, both extant and prehispanic, into my works and combine them with personal feelings, experiences or fears. Although cultural elements are the essence of my art, through them I also like to express political and social opinions. As a Mexican, I feel in touch with the problems at the Mexican-American border, as well as with the issues facing Mexican immigrants. I also like to express the tension between the indigenous and the industrialized worlds, and to analyze the different elements that make up Mexican identity, especially when confronted with life in a different country. My favorite medium is oil painting. I use vivid and deep colors, with which I reflect the light of the Mexican sun. Some of my compositions are figurative, and oscillate between realistic scenes and more elaborated images, with affinity to surrealism. My most recent productions are less figurative and combine the same vivid colors into expressive abstract constructions. Biography My name is Eduardo D...

Maria Papaioannou - aEUR|A tribute to human beings, an obsession to discover what we are made of. Is it merely skin,or simply earth? A vehicle throughout our lives, something not so important? Or is it our skin the mirror that reflects our lives, our actions, our very souls?... ...
