Artwork Description:   Panspermia by Cecil Herring, an original digital artwork as a recurring theme in several different works over several years.2001. Panspermia is described as is the hypothesis that life exists throughout the Universe, and may be distributed to habitable bodies, in microbial form, by comets, meteoroids, asteroids and planetoids. The idea is not new to me. I created a 48 x 48 painting under plexiglass with a similar man over a more realistic world in the 70s and sold it to Dr. David Rosner, one of my avid collectors who has since passed away. The scientific community has always hypothesized on how humans found earth. It is far from resolved and still in the argument stage after the theory of evolution as Darwin wrote in his origin of the species. This is a wonderful scientific time in which any theory can become real. I call all my artworks Spacescapes. This is one of my Spacescapes. For me this work also touches on string theory, a recent phenomena in physics and math that describes microcosms (microuniverses) and macrocosms (Macrouniverses) with a new form of math. I think humans have always been in the universe and there is no beginning and no end. That is quite hard to understand and has to do with belief I think which is at the core of the world. BELIEF HAS BECOME REAL FOR ME. What is impossible is to believe that you can get from there to here by thinking it through. You can get more thought food by reading Wikipedia, a miracle in itself. I love Wikipedia. copyright Cecil Herring 2011. I use Epson Professional 13 x 19 heavy Photo gloss.
