Expressionism, Digital painting, Female Portrait, Figurative,
I created this digitally painted work as a way to ask and also answer a question about the meanings and intent of why a woman may choose to veil herself. What happens when woman dons this garment that may either be used to conceal her from the gaze of others, or serve as a prelude to revealing herself. Who can forget the story of Salome’s fabled dance of the 7 veils. Does a veil create a transformation in the wearer. Veils, including the wedding veil, all have loaded meanings that signals the wearer’s intent and the emotion being experienced, even when the wearer’s face is hidden. So as can be discerned in this work, it would seem that the veil becomes an amplifier of the wearer’s emotions, in direct contradiction of the belief that veils gives the wearer an air of “mystery.”This work is issued as a single original full size photo print. The size is 30” x 45”and it is printed on smooth aluminum. The work is finished with a surface covering of 12” thick sheet of clear, non - reflective premium acrylic over the metal. And it is hung with 4 Stainless Steel Mounting Posts at each corner. The mounting posts screw into the wall so that the work is held 1 “ off from the wall. It is shipped in a wooden crate with all the necessary mounting hardware attached so that it is ready to hang right after it is removed from it’s shipping crate.
