The 15 works in this series are an exploration of vector forms. To regain some of the softness and sensitivity of raster painting, I have discarded all colors but red, and all gradients except black-and-white. After several years of abstract raster painting I enjoy working figurative once again. The main puzzle in raster painting was how to combine colors to an equilibrium that would express a sense of space and freedom. In vector painting, I don’t have to worry about color, it is all about straight and bent lines and light. I’m inspired by Hiroshige’s wonderfully atmospheric woodblock prints of ordinary people going about their everyday business.
About the print. ‘Dinner’ is a limited edition of 20, exclusively offered at AbsoluteArts. It comes with a certificate. I have arbitrarily put the width and height at 40x60 cm., but since it is a vector painting, it can be enlarged without loss of its 300 dpi resolution to any size the printer can handle. You are invited to make your own choice out of many different sizes and materials at Whitewall, such as Hahnemühle paper, acrylic glass, aluminum dibond or wood. You can order it framed or unframed, with or without passe-partout, etc. Only keep in mind that the aspect ratio of 2 to 3 should remain the same. A cut-out with another ratio is sometimes possible. Mail me your choice, together with your address. To pre-calculate the cost, take the sum of your product choice + the transport cost at Whitewall + € 500 artist royalty. Add 20 pct. commission for AbsoluteArts. After confirmation, the amount should be paid at this website. I accept a standard 3 day return for orders with a maximum of €1000, except for adapted ratios.
