Artists Describing Their Art:

Michael Schaffer - Exploring the realms of color, texture, drama, and feelings are the main ingredients of my art work. To inspire the viewer to deal with the issues presented to him is my goal. To inspire the viewer to interpret and react is my passion. I hope you have been inspired... or at least have an opinion. Art and life have many of the same ingredients for us to enjoy....

C. A. Hoffman - For me, my artwork is very personal. It reflects a lot about how I am feeling at any given time and place. I feel that art has to be on this personal level to completely capture how the artist is feeling daily, or trying to convey a certain thought or emotion at that particular moment. We all, at one time or another try to express our thoughts or ideas, whether it is to others or just to ourselves, by words, actions, ideas or pictures. If we are sucessful in this attempt, I think it shows through in our everyday work or art. I believe that one is either born to create art naturally or by learning. For me, I feel that I was born with this wonderful gift, and I try to improve upon it every day. In my photos and art, I hope to show how everyday objects and nature can capture our imaginations and feelings. Sometimes I work with an image to improve it, inhance it, or just to fuel the imagination. I truly hope this shows in all of my art. ...

La pintura es poesAa silenciosa SimA3nides Artistic experience, as a spectator, and then, more directly, as an artist, has meant for me the possibility of transcending and reaching certain spaces that are intangible, but lived daily. As a creator, to be in front of a blank canvas or a digital image to be manipulated, is to be faced with a challenge that of translating to the language of forms, textures and colors something that has not yet been conceptualized, but that exists somewhere and that I desire to capture, expressing it through those materials and tools at my disposal. It thereby becomes a kind of game, in which time disappears and one enters into communion with the aesthetic experience with its infinity of moments, which go from pain to ecstasy. Self-taught experimentation in the field of art, has been for me one of the great pleasures of life. La experiencia artAstica ...

Isaac Brown - ISAAC S. BROWN As his day job Isaac is president and CEO of Baltic Street AEH Inc. A non-for profit agency that helps people coping with mental health issues deal with advocacy, employment and housing based in New York city. Mr. Brown has been painting for over 35 years. This self-taught artist has been previously employed in a variety of jobs including lumberjack, diamond cutter, welder and sergeant in the Israeli Defense Forces. It was during his time in the IDF as a young sergeant during periods of down time that he first picked up a brush and paints to begin to express his artistic creativity. Later in between maneuvers, during his time in the first Lebanese War, he began experimenting with whatever materials were available to a young soldier, creating sculptures and roadside art along the way from one camp to another as a release from the daily pressures and responsibly of caring for his fellow soldiers. After leaving the army he traveled the world extensively continuing painting and sculpting along the way. He spent a considerable time amount living in Europe and thus bringing to his art a unique worldwide perspective. His artwork reflects the passion...

Isaac Brown - Denise Dalzell - Painting. Illustration. Expressionism. Pop Art. Modern. Realism and, occasionally, a bit of Abstraction. My current work centers on my consideration of how we respond to each other, the stories that develop between us and around us, and how our collective stories reflect on and influence us individually. How our stories bounce off each other and combine to create new stories. My paintings are illustrations of the scenes that I encounter during my travels abroad and in daily life so, some scenes are more sweeping than others. How do we, as people of differing backgrounds, cultures, and experiences interact with each other Are we different people in a crowd than when alone How do we fit in or stand out where we find ourselves at any given moment, in any given story Stories are everywhere, and thereaEURtms no predicting what theyaEURtmll reveal. Body language, movement, color, contrast combine to illustrate my scenes of interaction between people and within environments. The excitement of being a part of something as unifying as a protest, the sense of adventure that comes from starting out with no particular destination, intimate moments with those we love and those we discover in the big events...

Cheryl Hrudka - My main goal is to allow the viewer to become intimate with my images, to make his her interpretation of what they are seeing a personal journey of their own. NOTE The vast majority of my pieces are available in various sizes and may be printed on either archival papers or on metal. Should you see one you like, but desire a larger or smaller size, please email me for available sizes and prices. ...

Azhar Shemdin - I am interested in experimenting with liquid acrylic, using resist material which is anything that is placed on the surface of the painting that impedes the flow of liquid paint. When the resist is lifted, an unexpected outcome is revealed. Sometimes the outcome is not what I wanted, and I cover the surface with paint and go for a second, third or even a fourth try, until I am completely satisfied with the outcome. The end result is a wonderous world that comes from somewhere and is revealed on a canvas surface!...

Michael Anderson - I am an American artist now working in Seoul, S. Korea after living and exhibiting in Los Angeles for about 12 years. My work stems from my experience of NE Asian culture, while extending the tradition of Western abstraction. ItaEURtms a mixture of vernacular, pop culture and trends in abstraction such as biomorphism, minimalism, and hard edge, combined as a sort of aEURoepop minimalism.aEUR The artwork includes paintings, digital prints, work on paper, etc. ...

Jim Stevens - Composition, value and form take center stage in my art. My work explores the combined impact of empty space and light in unique presentations that underscore drama and wonder. Legally blind, I see in the spaces between reality and in my art space becomes a shade, a tone, a tint, and even an invisible brush. I am an internationally collected and award winning artist and author. Retired from the University of Colorado, I studied art from an early age as an apprentice to master oil and watercolor painters, sculptors and stone and gem carvers. My diverse skill set and love of art in its many forms eventually guided me to the creation of my signature monofilament and abstract linear paintings....

Jon Glaser - There is something fulfilling about capturing a moment in time particularly as the sun makes its first or last appearance. My photographic work reflects an affinity for movement and sound; the latter reminiscent of a song, starting calmly, building strength, power and energy, until the shutter releases and the image is recorded as the ultimate crescendo. While I am most drawn to the grand landscape, my portfolio includes macro still life and abstract work as well, showcasing a relationship between color and light. NOTE: All of my photographs have been processed with Photoshop and Lightroom withlittle manipulation or adjustment. All colors are true of their location. In addition, I print all images using the latest technology, the highest-quality papers, and newest archival inks. All photographs include a 5mm white border to ensure proper handling that helps eliminate the potential for fingerprints. ...

Hilary Pollock - When contemplating creativity, I admit to being impressed by the draftsmanship of Gustav Klimt, the audacity and creativity of Picasso and the fortitude of Artemisia Gentileschi and many other female artists. The "Lady and the Unicorn" tapestries in Paris move me greatly for their colour and their detail in particular. I have my own style and language which has developed over the years from experimentation with a variety of mediums and different approaches to my subject matter. Some things become favourites, contributing to a personal language and the sheer pleasure of creating. The process is the important thing. Creativity for the visual artist is all about struggle, excitement and energy....

Clinton Lown - " Should you ask me, whence these stories? Whence these legends and traditions, With the odors of the forest, With the dew and damp of meadows, With the curling smoke of wigwams, With the rushing of great rivers, With their frequent repetitions, And their wild reverberations, As of thunder in the mountains? I should answer, I should tell you," Damn the Damp and where the hells Dave Cramp? Last time I saw him was when we was pulled over on Bathhurt by the Bronze dogs....
