Artists Describing Their Art:
Neal Alicakos - I always had a passion for abstract art and did many doodles when I was young. Through my school years I tried to design the year books. In college I minored in art but my majors were more geared for the business world. Although I was not in the art world for many years I always did my doodles to relieve my stress and fill in free time that I had. Now I am semi retired and want to take more of an interest in the things I like most, my doodles and abstract art work. I believe art is an expression of ones soul and mood behaviors. I used to draw mostly black and whites but find I like using colors now. Once in a while I like to combine black and whites, and the use of color in the same abstract drawing. Most times the viewer may not consider that as appealing, but I like to break boundaries as part of expression. Another medium I focus on time to time is photography. I like pictures of landscapes, seascapes, floral, and building structures. I find beauty in nature and architecture. ...
Roberto Trigas - Art has been practiced by humans since thousands of years ago; we have remaining samples of paintings in caves and walls, stone carvings and many objects. The main characteristic of Art as opposed to the manufacture of everyday objects is that, were those have a definite USEFUL purpose, Art doesn`t seem to. I`ll explain.Making a tool to obtain food is an obvious useful activity. Spending a great deal of time and effort in "decorating" that tool doesn`t seem to have an obvious purpose. And yet, humans have been doing so for thousands of years. Why? Probably we shall never know. But there is something inherent in human beings that make us do so.There is magic in creating, in transforming a piece of clay into a "thing" that resembles something else, in spreading paint over a stone wall and making images appear, images that other members of the tribe recognise and relate to. That is why I paint. Because painting appeals to the magic unknown of human nature. In European Art, mainly since the Renaissance (XV c. onwards), Artists strived to attain a representation of the visual reality as close to an optical view as possible; ...
Ismo Jokiaho - My works and pictures are usually made in ink and oil colors. These are the two main styles and medias I am using. My works are reflections to my internal and the external life. In my work I will try to put my life-experiences visible as a whole. My surroundings and the presence of people in my life are very important to me, challenging and lively, but they do not appear as recognizable personalities in my works. In my art realism intertwined with fantasy, while maintaining a full-time touch with reality. My works is becoming increasingly human condition of humanity and the possibilities of a purely increasingly complex world, targeting with lifes passion, flair, and awareness of the common life forces. As an artist I transfer the understanding and feel of the unspoken onto a paper or canvas and dissolve the divide between the practice of different cultural forms and the practice of painting. ...
