This work really began as a challenge to myself of how to create a work that had a highly contrasted chiaroscuro effect on black drawing paper using only white charcoal. The female subject in the image from which the work was created, had an expression of quiet of surprise, so my next step was to introduce one or more elements that would be seen as the cause of her surprise. Moths flying aground her and even landing on her came to mind,
The high degree of black and white contrast produced a a very dramatic and aesthetically pleasing result. This work is offered as a Limited Edition of 20 unframed prints on Archival Fine Art paper.
