Artwork Description:
I used to live in Ethiopia when being a child. So for me Africa is always a part of childhood, remembering its smells of eucaliptus leaves, murmur and laughter of the streets of Addis Abeba, heat and humidity, tropical rains when there is nothing to be seen or heard. Its fascinating how black people (I am not talking about people implemented in western culture) look as part of landscape. I saw the same thing in the mountains of Nepal. A woman ot a man, a child stops and looks at you seriously or smiles and I suddenly I feel like looking into the eyes of someone belonging here. Their eyes somehow naive and vivid reminded me those of wild and beautiful animals, naive but so much closer to nature then white people are. Those images are solidly carved somewhere deep in my mind together with memories of their poverty, dirt and dust of Addisa.
