Artists Describing Their Art:
Iva Kalikow - My first love was interior design which I studied at the School of Visual Arts in NYC. I went on to study drawing and color at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. At first, I thought I wanted to design furniture, but while living in L.A. I took a class in stained glass and I was hooked. My approach is one of the overall interior design of the room as well as the architectural aspects. My stained glass art panels are created in the traditional lead technique seen for centuries in churches and cathedrals. Using a wide array of both handmade and manufactured glass in every conceivable color and texture, I am constantly visualizing how natural light will illuminate the work. In selecting my palette of glass, do I use a rough wavy glass or a smooth texture, do I want it translucent or opaque I then meticulously hand cut each individual piece of glass, grind the edges and wrap it in malleable lead came strips, then solder and cement to create my original custom designed interpretations. My most recent collection is inspired by the Masters of Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Fauvism, and Cubist periods of Art - ...
Plamen Yordanov - I share the idea of an art that creates reality instead of offering its conventional model. I want to provoke the birth of view that go beyond the boundary of reality itself. These viewpoints stress an order that exist "a priory" in nature and can be developed again and again. This aspect makes the picture exist as a signal that gives the onlooker a chance to go deep into his/her life experience and mind. This is a universal signal to which the individual responds in un unique manner and creates his/her own reality. ...
Arnold Cecchini - After being honorably discharged from the 1st Army I apprenticed under Master Designer Charles Connick Jr. in Boston while attending nights at Northeastern University. I have been working part time in the Stained Glass Media since 1971. It will always be something I love to do. Ive been commissioned privately for several projects in the late 70s to the present. In the early 80s I held courses in the leaded glass craft at Dutchess, Orange, Columbia Community Colleges, Vassar College, and three BOCES Programs all in New York. In the years since then my energies have been focused in the direction of conservation, repair, and creations. I treated many windows in eight churches, created many windows in a hospital, repaired windows in two other institutions, and conserved two medallions at Eleanor Roosevelts Home at Val Kill in East Park NY. In 2010 I retired after 37 years of government service, and now reside in Central FL....
Lance Foshe - It is my sincere wish to perpetuate the standards and beauty that Louis Comfort Tiffany brought about during the Art Nouveau movement and to pay homage to him through the careful execution of museum-quality reproductions of his lamps. My goal is to create wonderful pieces of art that truly represent Tiffany quality and to give you a chance to own a glimpse of a by-gone era. My passion for working in stained glass is eclipsed only by my desire to continue learning about and recreating these wonderful lamps. I use nothing but the finest art glass available and utilize many of the same techniques Tiffany used in his day in order to produce a quality product. To ensure solid construction, all shades are carefully soldered and made with a sturdy brass ring at the top and a 3/16" brass rim on the bottom. For shades larger than 22", heavy-gauge copper reinforcement wires are installed on the inside from top to bottom. Prices quoted below are for the shade only. Vase caps and wheels are included. Please call me at (310)753-7448 for prices on reproduction bases or custom designs. Happy shopping!...

Aida Glamocak - My work derives its inspiration from nature and personal experience. Using glass as my medium, I create both functional and artistic pieces. In the functional work(jewellery and glass objects), I put the emphasis on the form, design and colour. My aim is to produce work that is calm, peaceful and meditative, so it creates atmosphere of tranquillity. My starting points are quite often external organic elements. I enjoy the process of reducing narrative elements of the natural world into abstract forms. I am naturalised British citizen born in Bosnia and Herzegovina, currently residing in Germany. Thus, my artistic pieces deal with my personal experience of displacement and desire to settle in, loss against gain and how these things are inseparable and go side by side with each other. New cultures and languages constantly influence the way I work, think and see the world around me. In my recent project, an award winning wall installation, "Interrupted Stories" Story No.1? (Collegium Artisticum, Sarajevo, BiH, 2009), I deal with these contradictory themes. These perplexing themes intrigue me a lot and I plan to continue to explore them in my future work. ...

Greg Gierlowski - Light has always played important role in my creations. Light comming through translucent artwork interests me and fascinates me the most. Therefore I turned into glass and started to experiment with translucent creations. My admiration for Art Nouveau artists that had created a lot of beautiful everyday-use objects of art resulted in creation of applied arts' objects such as art-lamps. When one has backlight at ones disposal, there's whole new field of artistic expresion - not only on one front surface of glass panel but on two, or even four or more, when two or three layers of glass can be used as a kind of sandwich that builds deeper into artwork for 3D effects. That's what I'm working on now and what's seems to attract international viewers & art-critics more and more now-a-days, to the point of of achieving latest awards and honours ( mainly from Italy....
Frans Kat - A. ADELAIDE ARTISTIC GLASS (AUSTRALIA) Artist: Frans Kat Throughout more than twenty-eight years as a glass artist, Frans Kat has been working predominantly in stained glass for residential, commercial and architectural settings. These windows have often incorporated the highly specialised art of kiln-fired glass painting and staining. His strong interest in contemporary glass design has created many opportunities while his traditional training has allowed him to adapt well to projects which demanded a more traditional design approach. Frans has been involved in some of South Australia's major church window restoration and conservation projects, during his long career. He has glass works in many private stained glass collections Australia-wide, as well as some in Belgium, The Netherlands and Great Britain. His recent interests also include sculptural, fused glass pieces, combining glass and metal as well as architectural etched glass panels which include various techniques such as painting and lamination. In the occassional pauses between commissioned work, Frans often designs and paints small free-hanging "autonomous" stained glass windows which are ellaboratly hand-painted, small scale works which can be hung in front of a window rather than being installed into fixed frames. In these pieces Frans develops ...
