Artwork Description:
Ongoing process of creating with colored powdered glass. More than 20 layers of light applications, on occasion heavier, when needed, of selected hues in glass and every time fired in the kiln. There it is liquified in the heat and comes out like a glowing melted beautiful 'fire' substance, that quickly cools down and reveals meticulous created work. Hues break through often from first layers and intensify, or soften top layers.. with this special light
, glass has. Then I continue creating, until desired is finally permanent. Many firings. Colors show with touch of light in changes, that please me.. can see my works smallest details every time anew.. The line work of course, and composition remains, once set, which takes time, since I apply various colored glass on top of each other. Like mixing with paint. Fire has a big affect on this, so I try to predict when applying the colored glass, what the turnout is going to be. For me, since I enjoy experimenting, a long process. Patience is a must. Of course I could throw on the powdered glass hues, and stencil- or use other media for design and make a quick, still beautiful piece. is not my forte, to let go easily.
Challenge and anticipation of result- is my way of creating. As far as I can go and achieve a great result- beyond the expected. I will do stencil, which I design myself soon. Also will try to stick to the rules.. maybe. and bet you, will be great too. I see it in the other participants work. And many of their pieces I really enjoy. Eye candy ;-) Plus, the weighty feel of glass I enjoy too.
