Artists Describing Their Art:
Emilio Merlina - I was born in 1950 in the North East of Italy from a polish mother and a sicilian father. I toured the world until I was 35, then I returned to Italy and picked up again my old passion painting and sculpture. As for myself, I can only say thoughts and paintings, paintings and thoughts. Everything maybe useless, however everything is life. i?1/2The human being leaves its signs, graffiti, indian dreams and imagination. Now I only have left a few more possibilities to express the colors which are not. Only the sign, scratched, angry or brushed is the witness. The sign has passed from there and there it has lived.i?1/2 Emilio Merlina Some hear if a door opens Others hear a latch which opens or closes Others more they hear the Angel when he turns over a page of the Great Book From the novel Missa Sine Nomine By Ernst Wiechert I have words which relegate my hunger And the hunger which owns my body but which do not confine them I have words which are both my confined hunger and body By the Italian poetess Paola Lovisolo ...
Ted Schaal - Lately I have been exploring the use of two enduring materials, bronze and stainless steel. I enjoy the juxtaposition of the primitive texture in the bronze with the mirror polished modern look of the stainless. Balance and symmetry dominate simple geometric forms. These sculptures are made to last through the ages with the highest level of craftsmanship and quality metals. Most of my latest work can be scaled up for public or corporate settings and commission inquiries are welcome. With over 20 years of sculpture experience anything is possible from desk top size to monumental fountains and sculpture. ...

A few image examples of Tims work are included in this portfolio which clearly show the wide range of materials and techniques this artist has mastered. He includes sculpture effects in murals. He has painted his sculptures and even uses internal illumination as well as mechanical movement in sculpture. Much of Tims artwork has a theme of multicultural Australia and our Aboriginal heritage. Sylvia Buehler - The career of artist Sylvia Buehler The Swiss artist is not easily pigeon-holed. Her skill, which has grown and developed over the years, is seen in a wide variety of techniques and objects in acrylic, oil, gouache, pastel and silk painting, as well as in textiles and sculptures. In many respects, the artistic career of the 42-year old from East Switzerland is unusual. It began in 1986, when Sylvia Buehler modelled true-to-life figures with great attention to detail. Their artistic value was quickly recognised. In 1994, her work was acknowledged and honoured internationally for the first time when, as one of 650 participants from 13 European countries, she won 1st prize for her "Uhrenmacher" (watch-maker). In 1996, more of her dolls won silver and bronze at "Eurodoll" in Bregenz (Austria). At one of her first painting exhibitions in 1995 (silk painting), the Swiss biscuit manufacturer ARNI purchased the painting "Appenzeller" to put on tins that were sold to the Far East (Japan). These tins are now traded as rare collector's items. Sylvia Buehler has lived and worked for more than 20 years in Herisau, in the canton of Appenzell Outer-Rhodes. In this time, ...
Tirzo Martha - The material doesn't need to be filled with words. It speaks for itself. It is our consciousness that has to translate it for us. My work is a loyal mirror of our societies, a reflection of a fragment from the thin line between fiction and reality. Tirzo Martha 2004...
