NOTE: Size given is for framed work. This mixed media work by DiFalco is a one-of-a-kind painted etching that combines the genres of printmaking and painting. It is an intaglio etching executed on a zinc plate that was developed in several baths of nitric acid. The printing was carried out at The Center for Works on Paper in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA French etching inks and RivesBFK white paper were used. The printing was done on a Charles Brand industrial sized press, manufactured in New York City. The Chine colle method also employed mulberry bark paper from Thailand that was infused with Japanese kozo threads. When the etching was completely dry, the artist enhanced it with gouache and watercolors. The image size is eight inches high by six inches wide, and the work itself measures fifteen inches high by eleven inches high. The frame measures about sixteen by twelve inches 38.1cm by 30.38cm. This is from a series inspired by Goya’s etchings and is executed in a geometric abstract style. The optical use of lines, circles, and pyramids work together to produce a balanced visual universe.
