This unique work combines photography, silkscreen, digital manipulation, copy machine technology, painting, and collage. I first painted in acrylic a portrait of Mary Magdalene on a six-sided stretched canvas and photographed it. NOTE -- This painting was sold in 2008 to a Scottish collector and is in Glasgow. I then took a silkscreen I did in 2007 of the Chartres Cathedral floor mosaic, used for meditative prayer. This print was then scanned into a printed and was overlaid with an image of the Magdalene portrait. She is holding a red egg -- to symbolize her pregnancy with Christ s child -- and holding her alabaster jar, which I painted in the shape of a pomegranate. This is the jar in which Mary held the oil of lavender with which she anointed Christ. I next mounted this printed image onto a monotype executed in red etching ink. The art does not include a mat or frame in order to keep the price low. Ships in a box.
