Superposition is a work depicting a being experiencing numerous states simultaneously. The hybrid figure is rendered inhuman and genderless. The piece explores the surrealist technique of automatic drawing. First, a rough drawing was spontaneously created with charcoal. Next, several layers of ink wash were applied to the paper to then render the piece abstract. Using oil pastels, oil paint, and color pencils I pulled the figure out of the abstraction and formed it into its finished state.
