  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Cris Orfescu - NANOART I create Art from Science using Technology. My art is a reflection of the technological movement. I consider NanoArt to be a more appealing and effective way to communicate with the general public and to inform people about the new technologies of the 21st Century raising the public awareness of Nanotechnology and its impact on our lives. Nanotechnology deals with the synthesis, manipulation and characterization of matter at the sub-100 nanometers level. Nanotechnology is still an emerging area although commercial products are already on the market. I bring the small world in front of my audience by visualizing with a scanning electron microscope the nanolandscapes and the nanosculptures I create by physical and chemical processes. I paint and manipulate digitally the monochromatic electron images and print them on canvas or fine art paper with archival inks specially formulated to last for a long time (giclee prints). This way, the scientific images become artworks and could be showcased for a large audience to educate the public with creative images that are appealing and acceptable. ...

Richard Wynne - Richard is an acclaimed International Artist recently returned to the USA. Richard has lived in many Countries. "The last being Thailland. He started his art studies at a very young age at the John Herron Art Institute In Indianapolis, Indiana and then later at the Art Institute of Chicago Richard has lived in many countries, painting, and playing music. Mr Wynne has exhibited in Thailand, the United States, Spain, Argentina, Kuwait, Korea, Ihdia, and other Countries. Sometimes perhaps I say too much about my self but maybe it helps people understand what motivates my work. For your information I've lived in 8 different countries and have been around the world 5 times. I speak a few different languages, some very well; others not so well. By the way I am not a workaholic as I don't consider what I do work. I enjoy life too much. I forgot to say I am also a weight lifter as lifting weights is my Zen. When I am troubled the concentration it takes to lift makes me calm. I guess my page will probably be a little different from what people expect. Sorry I have not been uploading new work as ...

Miri Chais - I create crossbreeds, and connect intricate, surrealistic "light-bearing" objects, luring the viewer into a world of fantasy and imagination. This combinations and fusions generate an illusion, introducing new perspectives which orient and move toward the light. I am interested in exploring and uncovering the poetic elements built into the technological world, while striving to transform the resulting research data into a visual display. It is an investigative process committed to asking questions, probing, and attempting to comprehend the world in which we live, the possibilities at hand, and the expectations for the future. The relationship between information and meaning arising from the works is associated with acts of subtraction, addition, and equation of the different fields of knowledge, while breaking free from the fetters of concreteness, duration, and memory, and taking the liberty to create a new space of operation. The displayed information and the visual capacity discernible in my works sustain a system of equilibrium and a delicate balance between object and image, artist and inspiration, setting and dream. Each work is based on a dialogue between figure and setting, tracing the embodiment of informative concepts and the object's ability to convey and transfer them, as they ...

Elena Zhogina - I am a self taught artist in love with what I do. I love research into form, color, texture, styles and fantasies. I am a self-made artist. In contrast to classical school of painting I use intuition and feelings to express myself. For me the world of painting allows to find my own way of self-expression and reveal my true personality. Some paintings start from one idea but with time discover to me new things. They bring harmony and happiness into my life. I am focused on drawing/painting portraits/people and various types/styles of motion. There are several symbolism works in my portofolio describing certain period of my life and my reflections thereon. Its a pleasure to share it with you ...

Firdausei Mehraygan - Our thoughts emerge from primordial presumptions of things we see, feel, touch and experience that are stored in the framework of our mind, as waves, vibrations and molecular reactions. These sensory inputs shape our world It's an unreal phenomenon because, if reality were defined as the existence of an object as we perceive it, then reality is unreal, even science cannot tell us anything about the world beyond our perception. All philosophies break the notion of reality. If ends are determined, then mortal quest for matter is an illusion, making life meaningless. Conscious senses create illusions to veil reality, but in the mysterious abyss of the sub-conscious a sense that interacts and understands stimulus from an external world, guides us through an inner vision to the real purpose of life but Mankind has never understood nor accepted this eternal truth. Reality, I believe is a combination of positive and negative energies on the same plain, their friction gives life its existence and the opposing thrusts create the balance to sustain changes. In an effort to picture a thought, to unravel the unseen, I instigate reality by relieving conscious senses and a mysterious process takes me through a process ...

Chary Castro-Marin - CHARY CASTRO-MARIN Artist's Statement I focus mainly on the theme of the particular piece and the communication of my feelings. These are my essential tools to connect with the viewer. By assuming the canons with which he or she is familiar I aim to create an atmosphere of empathy where a comfortable dialogue can ensue. As is obvious the relation with the viewer is crucial for me, my basic goal, since I consider myself merely a magic- maker. I begin by choosing a technical solution that seeks to manifest itself. In general I believe that's what painting is: the ideal vehicle to suggest illusions, hints of something that wants to be but that is only shapes and colors. The longing of all these years living outside of Cuba has marked me in profound ways, in diverse ways: from the language--the words themselves--the culture, the ethos. Through my work I metabolize the spaces that surround me and my vital experiences, the early life stages in Cuba and later here in the United States, first in New York and then in Phoenix. Living in these two American cities with very distinct and different identities and habits also...

Troy Whitethorne - "to create, is to put your soul, on paper,!" i love still life, cultural art, abstracts and nudes. My passion for art, is number one on my list, i love art, and its a way to express who i am.......

Duygu Kivanc - Duygu Kivanc is an artist who has shown her work at the United Nations, Soho, Chelsea in NewYork; Alexandria, McLean and Fairfax in VA, in Washington DC as well as internationally in various countries. She considers her participation in the Art Students' League {open studio programs} in New York has influenced her development style in art. Especially, Knox Martin's instructions on abstraction has very strong influence. Duygu's work has been published in: -The Encyclopedia of Living Artists (4th.Edition) - Best of America, mixed Media artists (2007 and 2010) www.bestofartists.com/kivanc/abstract-portfolio/9545623 -International Contemporary Artists Best of Artists Collector's Edition. -Nominated for 2011 Palm Art Award

Kaiser Kamal - I consider my self experimental- conceptual artist .Where meaning is not absolute but suggestive. I am constantly drawing and planning .Sometimes the drawings are left in the sketchbook and other times they develop into more in-depth ideas and detailed images. I raise them in me. I may go to sleep with an idea or may wake up in the morning with a new composition. My subject matter is about people's daily experience , human and nature. My influences are first and foremost everything I see, feel and experience. In my work I try to create multiple layers .I felt that a combination of multiple layers gives deeper meanings to a painting. The process is an internal one, inspired by personal experiences and imagination. Throughout my career I have worked in many different media: drawing, painting, photography ,sculpture Mural and large scale scroll painting , Video. My latest body of work combines processes. and experience in deferent technique. I have use mixed media -like acrylic, tea dust, permanent marker,3d paint, Black gesso etc. Instead of explaining a certain piece of work - I wanted it to be ~ hopefully it can speak for itself and whatever it says to the viewer - it...

Vanessa Bernal - Artist's statement: My earliest childhood memories are those of painting with my grandfather and frequently visiting the Art Institute of Chicago where we would spend countless hours together. He taught me that everything we come in contact with has the potential of becoming a work of art. My grandfather and I would take walks together to hunt for "treasures" of discarded objects that later he would turn into beautiful collages and assemblages. It is those lessons I carry with me and -today- in my work I see his influence. I have never been comfortable with expressing myself verbally. I am not one to strike up a conversation with a stranger, nor do I feel comfortable speaking to a group of people. Visual expression comes naturally to me; it is through this means I can best communicate with others and feel the most comfortable. At a young age I became aware of the injustices being perpetrated in the world and was deeply disenchanted with the political process as a means of creating effective change in our global community. For me, becoming an artist was inevitable. Through the visual arts not only did I communicate my life's passions, my fears, ...

Elisha Sherman - My craft designs are elaborate with hidden objects or intricate designs waiting to be seen. Process is essential to my work and begins with the medium of paper. I use a unique form of decoupage working with handmade papers and an assemblage of found objects. I like symmetry in my work and often balance size, shape, and color with pattern, and texture. I love to have fun with my designs and enjoy working with clients to create custom pieces for their special occasions. I continue to create my work with exuberance as it is a nice respite from the constraints of formal teachings as the possibilities are endless in multimedia. The evolution of my line continues, as I am currently designing bottle cap art with genuine gemstones, handmade papers, and charms that can also be turned into necklaces. ...

    E. Tilly Strauss - I have been painting chickens for the last 20 years- beginning with the advertizing of our family's poultry farm business thru the eventual move of my studio into the defunct slaughterhouse. Somehow chickens fall easily from my brush, leaving painstaking impressions of my psyche and chronicling retrospective concerns of my community- such as the source of food, the use of land, the clarity of love, the isolation of individuals. With the inclusion of text from headlines to personal lists, stories emerge and dissolve through the process of the painting. Layering in the push and pull of darks and lights, the paintings gel into a narratives of our anxious era, a larger tale of the moods of soul and season. Because of the space and time I am afforded to work, much of my painting up to this has been intimate in dimension. I would like to enlarge the images to a much more confrontational scale. I recently moved out of the poultry slaughterhouse (because of ventilation needs) into a much larger barn. My goal is to further push the images so that they reflect the chicken as legend in our cultural mythology and account for my current truths. ...

Kikuko Sakota - The recent themes of my paintings are imaginative world coming into my mind, while walking in hills and forests. Fresh air, smell of leaves and soils, color of greens, and singing of birds make me recall fairy tales: the witch living in the woods, dwarfs playing music, and so on. It is my bold attempt to interpret invisible but natural miracles into picture planes with my skills focusing on color employment, brushstrokes and composition for those elements.
