  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Dolores Poacelli - My general artist statement begins by saying that "Relationships are never easy . . . especially those between color, shape, texture space and tension." No matter what materials I choose to use these relationships always apply. The works in metal are created using aluminum printing press plates that I sand, cut and adhere to wood panels. Basically this series is about energy - creative, biological, emotional and sexual. They are abstract pieces with emotionalized titles such as "Adult Swim" and "Herd Mentality", in an effort to help the viewer "see" the work through metaphor and satire. Many of these pieces are almost interactive - as the viewer walks across the room the play of light changes on the aluminum fragments. More work can be seen on my site: www.poacellifineart.com D. Poacelli...

Ken Hillberry - In art and in life, dynamics of balance, integrity and tolerant interaction of all elements or participants ought to be see, experienced and maintained. At the same time, the challenge of affecting this balance is creatively encountering all changes and adapt accordingly. For some, the destination or pre-determined outcomes are sought more often than not. Then there are some who savor the journey, thus witnessing and enjoying developments along the way. I fall into the latter category. It's like watching the film develop in a darkroom. the image takes form a little at a time right before my eyes. The creative process, for me, is void of pressure and timeless. The ability and practice and discipline are central in my approach. My creative intent is to engage a viewer in thought and emotion, as well as, with their eyes. Using imagination, retrospect or model, my range of composition can be conceptual, perhaps impressionistic or abstract in application, but always developed to evoke an awareness and appreciation for the relative conditions in life experience and art form as I incisively or playfully interpret my experiences along the way. ...

James Enders - ARTIST STATEMENT: JAMES ENDERS INCORPERATES BOTH PAINTING AND SCULPTURE USING AN AWAKENING RANGE OF COLORS. CITING NATURE AND THE SUBCONSCIOUS AS HIS INSPIRATION. HE BELIEVES IT IS UNATURAL FOR AN ARTIST TO REMAIN STAGNENT TO ONE GENRE , MEDIA OR MINDSET. ENDERS LOOKS TO DADAISM AS HIS FAVORITE MOVEMENT. HIS ART IS CLEARLY INSPIRED BY: DE KOONING, POLLOCK, MIRO, CALDER, PICASSO, AND KEITH HARING....

Marja Jansen - A painting as an ornament The first thing one notices when viewing the oeuvre of Marja Jansen is the pronounced development of her work in the course of time. This artist (1950), born and raised in The Hague, dares to experiment! Several years ago she produced smoothly painted designs with clearly defined colour fields, as if they were drawn with a brush. Neatly coloured figures which had a whimsical character because of the playful colours used. Exceedingly well-organized and calm. In her later work, Jansen became much wilder. The bright colours remained but her treatment of the paint took on a new dimension. The paintings of 2000 take you by surprise. They are robust, overpowering canvases with thick layers of paint. You are carried away by the full compositions of whirling, swirling forms while at the same time being confronted with vivid colours. Her work today is considerably more refined. Inks of various colours flow together across white paper. A brush is not used; everything is formed by the movement of the paper which causes the ink to flow. She elaborates on this theme on larger canvases. The ink moves - driven by gravity -over the surface and then she ...

Yuming Zhu - I land my brush with the force of a giant rock splashing into the ocean. I am not looking for a beautiful painting, but to express Life itself. Painting is just like a stacking of passions. Painting is a method of striping myself naked and facing the truth of my inner emotion. I invite the viewer to experience through my paintings the joy of being alive right at this moment. I believe I can do lots of things, but painting and poetry are the best beloved channels to express my complicated emotions. Originally from Shanghai, Yuming began studying under the masters at a young age. After his BA from China, Yuming came to the States and graduated from Sonoma State University with his MA in 1991. Working in oils, pastels and ChineseSumi Watercolors, Yumings work is a unique blend of East meets West artistry. It is a style that Yuming refers to as Transism, in reference to the constantly evolving interests, which include observations on modern life, a love of music, and an exploration of his own unique heritage. I paint to achieve balance and harmony. Once I reach that, I will for sure break itaEUR aEURoeMy art is just...

Laura Schoonover - I am an artist because I have always been driven to work with my hands - driven to create objects of art, utility, culinary delight or botanical beauty. I am happiest when I am creating and embellishing life. My artwork is an exploration of themes in history, symbolism, music, dance, spirituality, feminism and self. Each piece becomes a fusion of what I feel, think, read and experience transformed into the tangible. ...

Dorothy Siclare - Dorothy Siclare ________________________________________ My Artist Statement D.SICLARE MILLINGTON, NJ - UNITED STATES I paint to share the unexpected beauty of people, places, and objects. I am passionate about my subjects and believe that a touch of my own spirit is reflected in my work. My hope is to seduce you with sensual compositions that evoke strong feelings in you. Accurate drawing skills, sound painting techniques, and strong compositions are the foundation of my paintings. Although realistic depictions are my main goal, it is also important that the subject painted "feels" like I have captured its soul. As an artist, I want to share my passion with those who appreciate the beauty, hope, and inspiration that great art can achieve. ...

Tara Hutton - My passion for the glamorous Art Deco era of the 1920's & 1930's is reflected in all my artwork. Therefore when you view my artwork you will see definitive lines and geometric shapes. My favorite medium is acrylic. My favorite art period is Art Deco but lately I have been venturing into next era, often referred to as Mid-Century Modern. My love for Architecture and Design is equal to the love I have for Fine Art. I am most attracted to people that are connected to or passionate about the arts. If my arwork pleases you I will be pleased, send me an e-mail, I answer all my art e-mail! Thank you for taking the time to view my Absolute Arts Portfolio. ...

Vladimir Simanovsky - The artistic world of Vladimir Simanovsky is motivated by live but predominantly by music. From his earliest childhood, when he intensely devoted himself to drowing and playing the piano, a tone of colourful vibrations of inner creative imagination has woken up in him. After having finished Secondary Artistic-Industrial School, which provided its graduates with the ABS of creave artistc resources, he carried on with studies at the Faculty of Architecture of the Technical University in Bratislava, which raised his rational human thinking. The creative career of Vladimir Simanovsky has been extended by a new dimention, a dimention of space. In the late of 80s he moved to Canada, where he intensily attended to artistic creation. In 1996 he come back to Slovakia,Bratislava. By rational but also subconscious comparing of the human criterion with architectural, constructive with spiritual, real with irreal, he has appealed to painter`s means of expression with a feeling that through them he can most brilliantly express his visual, rational and subconscious statuses he has systematically saved in his live. Linear compositions are,by turbit painting area`s shaped into fine blocks underlined by gentle scale of warm colour tones, sharpen tention among particular colour...

Dune Tencer - I have been told that I need to find a style, a theme, or a signature look to my art. Well I have. I love painting the landscapes of America's Southwest and my home state of Texas. I love painting the texture, color and size. Now that being said I find painting abstract and inks very freeing, relaxing and the inks are just down right fun. On occasion the canvas has a mind of its own and a painting just wants out. A good example of this can be found in the Geisha. My daughter challenged me to paint a really big painting. I had a roll of canvas, 8 feet long and 4 feet wide. Overwhelmed by the size I threw on some black paint and some red paint, spread it around. I then hung it from the ceiling of the studio and stepped back. There she was all I had to do was the finishing embellishment and 45 minutes later there stood the "GEISHA". This is not the sort of thing that happens often but what fun when it does. I hope you enjoy seeing my art as much as I do making it. Thank you. ...

Marc De Groote - One of the top 25 Canadian artist invited to compete in the Wildlife Habitat Canada Conservation Stamp Competition. Wildlife artist extraordinaire, come and experience wildlife art as you rarely will see today, Marc's extreme detailed artworks will amaze you. His ability to capture nature at its finest will allow you the experience of being at one with nature. I consider myself a realist artist, greatly influenced by the beauty of nature. The extreme detail created in the natural world is beyond comprehension. My primary objective is to capture that detail with the intent for viewers to contemplate these familiar visions from a different vantage point of being there with nature. To be able to get close to wildife is an near impossible task my art allows the viewer to experience the feeling of being real close. ...
