Artwork Description:

Qatar Series: As my own life experiences greatly influence my imagery and my art, the genesis of the Malta series began during my residency in Gozo, Malta. This was a retreat from a very difficult period in my life. I was raw and fragile. Diving into ... this body of work was a way to work through the layers of emotion. Wanting to escape, I played and reconnected to myself and my work. The resulting images appear light, childlike and devoid of chaos - at least at first glance. Like memories that fade into their place within specific contexts, the viewer must engage deeply to see the connection between the marks hidden beneath layers of wax and resin. The circle, a symbol used frequently in my work, is suggestive of the void. Arguably, the emptiness seen in the void is not emptiness at all, but impermanence or lack of absolute identity. Like a circle, everything is ultimately interconnected and mutually dependent. With all things dynamic, there is a constant state of flux - an exchange of energy and information that transforms through the passage of time. The multiple pieces in this exhibition relate to that idea of interconnectedness. The multiples are composed of panels I have done at various times in my life. I have recognized their connection recently. By placing the once disconnected images together as diptychs and triptychs, I draw attention to the competing forces present in opposing panels and I begin to question their differences. A few of the seeming contradictions are soft images embedded in hard surfaces. Orderly or intentional placement of objects juxtaposed with wildly abstract lines and objects meant to protect or used to construct cities are seen as menacing. While the connection between the panels is meant to be ambiguous, these dualities may actually be two sides of the same coin. What appears as a chaotic relationship, may actually be the exact moment in time where chaos is drawn into order.

Thus, we always offer individualized attention to each client for every purchase however small or large it may be. We treat all our clients with great attention and care.
