Artwork Description:
This piece touches upon a number of themes which are important to me, essentially contrasting the power and prestige of the metropolis with what we often hope are the humbler, softer influences of the natural world. It is a memento mori in honour of my sister, and presents the viewer with a young woman yet haunted by dreams of past and present, light and shadow, dreams which are inhabited by William Blake’s fierce and famous ‘tiger, tiger, burning bright in the forests of the night’, which invokes the supreme power of the senses over reason… Is this her true home?
