Artwork Description:

This is an installation done by me at the Theertha International Artist Camp held at Lunuganga, Sri Lanka in September 2001. Penis or Phallus is often identified with sex pleasure and obsenity. However, it also signifies oppression ,dominance and cruelty in different contexts. I have tried to symbolise terror and dominace by using phallic symbol. The act of sexual intercourse itself has the overtones of dominace. The martial rapes in was and other forms of sexual harrasment is being carried out by millitary personel involved in conflicts. Its is basically a gender issue which has not attacted the due consideration even from the feminist groups.
