Artwork Description:
Portrait of Van Gogh.
Van Gogh s portraits figure prominently in the history of world painting. A significant part of them was written in the 1880s-1890s, that is, just at the time when the famous artist was going through a very controversial period of creativity on the one hand, these were decades of rapid upswing, and on the other hand, he was experiencing a complex depression. which affected his writing style. His style is highly controversial and is still the subject of serious controversy. Many art critics agree that he was greatly influenced by the course of impressionism. And in fact, the author himself, when writing canvases, adhered to the principle of the need to depict, first of all, the inner world and complex psychological experiences. This determined the manner and style of his writing some uneven lines, blurring of colors, play with colors, lack of proportionality in the composition. This clearly reflects the influence of the Impressionists.
In this portrait, we seem to have landed Van Gogh. The portrait is based on his surviving photograph.
