Artwork Description:

The solar motif at the center of the composition relates to the beautiful yellow tiles, which compose and surround it. Produced from the floor of a lavender distillery, the porous tiles absorbed and preserved the distinct floral aroma. Consequently, Soalhat creates a circuitous path in which the sun nurtured the lavender�s growth until the lavender was harvested and transported to the distillery where it scented the floor, which was turned into tesserae that make up a mosaic depicting an image of the sun. Like many of Soalhat�s pieces, Soleil contains themes of renewal and transformation.
