Kim Grant - I am, primarily, a self-taught mosaic artist who finds the history of mosaic incredibly inspiring. Having inadvertently discovered the wonderful medium of mosaic a few years ago, I instantly became addicted and have recently begun exhibiting my work. Mosaic has allowed me to encompass all my creative pursuits in one venture: furniture restoration, interior design, web design, architecture, gardening and even travel! I produce anything for interior or exterior applications; from small scale pieces such as stepping stones to larger scale projects such as murals, sculptures and decorative pieces. Mosaic enhanced furniture is a particular favourite. I provide original designs, working closely with the client and am experienced in working from existing designs. My style is primarily inspired by ornamental art from the East and the West, subtly combining and fusing different designs from Asia, to the Middle East and India as well as Celtic patterns, Art Nouveau and Art Deco (to name but a few!). A strong element of my work is the inspiration I draw from life's quirky and often comedic nature. Whilst I base my creations largely on the classical method of mosaic, my endeavour is to produce artwork that is distinct, aesthetic and accessible. ...
