Artists Describing Their Art:
Elena Zhogina - I am a self taught artist in love with what I do. I love research into form, color, texture, styles and fantasies. I am a self-made artist. In contrast to classical school of painting I use intuition and feelings to express myself. For me the world of painting allows to find my own way of self-expression and reveal my true personality. Some paintings start from one idea but with time discover to me new things. They bring harmony and happiness into my life. I am focused on drawing/painting portraits/people and various types/styles of motion. There are several symbolism works in my portofolio describing certain period of my life and my reflections thereon. Its a pleasure to share it with you ...
Rachelle Charlier - Born on 2nd August 1979 in Rocourt near Liege in Belgium. I mostly use acrylic on paper, ink and canvas. I focus my work on Painting and fashion sketches. Rachelle's universe Greedy by nature, passionate with a light tendency to impulsiveness, I turn to be someone pretty funny and eccentric in spite of myself. I get used to see life with colours in general even when this one is dogging me. I'm always seeking after my true SELF and a real sense in my life. Art and culture have always been part of me, in my way of looking at the different areas I could discover during my several journeys in Europe. I'm mostly inspired by fashion, dancing and its stereotyped poses. I usually add in my works all that reflects or has reflected what I feel or felt at that particular moment. When I'm mixing all these topics to the several colours of my short existence, I'm inviting artists who inspire me the most, such as Gaudi, Mondrian, Andy Warhol or the Swing music, the Beatles or even Twiggy, to be part of the creation of a work of art in which I'...
Leon K. L. Chew - I endeavor to present a unique and innovative style of Chinese painting, in combining ideas of calligraphy and painting, in integrating Science and Art, and in blending the East and the West. Using a traditional painting medium, but with self-invented modern technique of pigmentizing-and-alumizing, a binary balance between traditional art practice and contemporary art process is achieved. Another trademark of my paintings is the controlled and yet harmonious splashings of varied Chinese ink and colors, and a rich mix of dry-wet, dispersed-concentrated, bright-dark and light-heavy effects. Heavy color is created from a mixture of color pigments from mineral and vegetable sources. The surface of my paintings is usually converted into a virtual platform, sometimes unpredictable, on which diverse entities converge, and then diverge to make a picture. I continue to pursue a state between figurative naturalism and abstract intellectualism, between likeness and unlikeness; seeking the Yin Yang harmony of form and spirit, past and present. Dr Leon K. L. Chew...
Royane Caldwell - Artist Statement At present, I am almost completely absorbed in visual arts. My academic education consists of western and non-western art, philosophy, music, anatomy, physiology and holistic medicine. I am extremely interested in exploring the relationship between dreams and the collective unconscious and their intuitive reflection expressed in my art. Both my paintings and photography have been shown in a number of venues over the past few years, and are in private as well as corporate collections in Canada and the United States. My search for meaning and my attempts to illustrate contemporary mythology are based on a central certainty of stored remembrances, genetic memories that resonate at our deepest levels. I use organic forms, anatomical structures, icons, and symbolism to draw obscure truths. Art to me is a conduit, crossing the boundaries of seen and unseen, feeling and memory. ...
Rhoda Taylor - Every day I work in my studio and every day I look forward to creating artwork. Painting is my passion.... I wouldn't know what to do without it. The studio that I work in is situated on the grounds of our house in beautiful Southern Ireland, surrounding me are the mountains with their soft mists, the rolling hills and ancient coastline, it all fills me with happiness and inspiration, I can gaze from my window at the amazing views, the Atlantic ocean, fields, cattle, birds and trees, this truly is a mystical and magical place. Over the years I have worked with various mediums, glass painting, silk screen, oils, pen and ink, gouache and watercolour, but my ultimate choice is my pen and ink work which I truly adore, I know I can put into the paintings a tremendous amount of detail that would be almost impossible using another medium. I am fortunate to of had a lot of my work purchased and exhibited worldwide, England, Ireland, France, Germany, Malta, Hong Kong, Vienna, Japan, and America, with works including Portraiture, Design and Illustration, not to mention the countless private commission requests ranging from transforming memorable photographs into paintings for ...
Grace Auyeung - Landscape painting is my artistic gravity, and I mainly use Chinese ink, colour and Xuan paper as media. I like to explore various techniques and styles, but I place strong emphasis on the use of lines to express my feelings and thoughts about the landscape I try to recreate. I see my art as a vision of my inner self and my spiritual self as well....
Debbi Chan - I am going to do an updated artist's statement. But until I submit it you have a short temporary one. As an artist I an fullfilled and contend. But at the same time I seek more , absorb more, and enjoy more. Art fills and fullfills me..I am always being an artist. My eyes see art always. This is not a hobby that I partake of when time suits. Art feeds me. Art consoles me. And being prolific it also takes my time. And for this I am thankful that i listened to my inner self. I am thankful for a following that grows by the minute. I enjoy you enjoying my portfolio. I also have come to realize that the coined phrase "starving artist" is a reality for some of us. But if you take another quote, my own , you will see that starving and rich pertain to material $. because of you the viewers , and because art is my life and my passion I can truly say that I AM RICH.. RICH WITH NO MONEY... and I can also say with truth that I am happy. I chose the path that allowed this rich life. There will continue ...
Salwa Zeidan - Artist Statement While painting I try to create a different concept of my concerns, feelings, anxiety, joy and confusion ... they all turn into a spiritual source of energy I try to release in the painting. My recent work tend toward simplicity. I no longer feel the need of many details that used to fill my paintings ... my work has become clearer ... simpler ... transparent ... I use black color in most of my paintings because I feel it has an inspirational symbolic power that other colors don't have. I think My freedom and insistence on experimenting have played a major role in developing my work. My continuous research on Arab and international experiences has enriched my vision and helped me form vast visual culture that might have marked my work in some way. I do not like to explain my painting and if I did it will not be useful ... a work of art can never be explained ... it's like the dream construct, it is a translation of our deepest inner necessities. A REAL WORK OF ART WILL ALWAYS REMAIN A HESITANT AND UNCERTAIN ATTEMPT BY THE ARTIST TO TRANSLATE HIS INNER MYSTERIOUS WORLD AND THIS ATTEMPT WILL ALWAYS BE ...
