  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Shakespeare Guirand - Painting has become the only form of art that gives true meaning to my life and my freedom. My work has evolved around my journey, my life. I communicate my emotions, my spirituality, my veneration for Woman and her sensuality, as well as the beauty of life. The pieces also examine the values or issues that I cherish whether it is melancholy, joy, risk, freedom, spirituality. My subjects derived as well from my surroundings. Combining abstract and surrealism provide me with a sense of freedom to create and to explore. Furthermore it translates the intrigue, the mystery, the divine facet of the Woman, her infinite beauty. My colors, texture, design differ as they evolve through my journey. Each body of work introduces new colors, shapes or themes. I am consistently exploring and discovering. ...

Artur Pashkov - Artur Pashkov is an artist originally from Russia. He arrived to New York in 2001 to explore the land of the opportunity in his career and passion. Here, Artur Pashkov wants to pursue a goal of a successful artist that can reach an audience by expressing his feelings and emotions through his Art. Artur graduated with BFA from Pace University in 2007. Fine Art is Artur's gateway to share with other people his way of seeing everything around him. In this way some people can perceive through his representations and visions the world in different perspective and color. It's not easy for Artur to describe his creativity, because it's a process that he's not fully aware of. His visions are like dreams, and are not easily understood or explained. Every time he takes a brush in hand, his visions are coming from nowhere, and he does not know where they will take him. Some of Artur's paintings appear to come from another world, crazy and even scary. Artur Pashkov is a painter practically from birth, when other kids wanted a bike or a plane Artur wanted to paint. Over the last few years Artur Pashkov ...

Carlos Pardo - IN SHORT: INSPIRATION: Concious and unconcious perceptions, my background, all circunstances of my life, experiences, past and present, books and newspapers that I read, films, Internet aEUR|feelings, emotions and a fertile imagination sometimes, all them aid to weave a story that will change alongside the execution of a piece. In my opinion our tradition, for thousands of years, the Arts reflect the vision of a trascendent life beyond our tangible life. THEME: Unreal cityscapes let us a special kind of plasticity. The imagination and feelings are active agents that are modeling the perceptible reality. Transcendent and oniric themes entered and remain in my artwork. In my imaginary urban landscapes there are overlaid elements of towns he has visited, some imagined, and maybe dreamed, but all with a unique feminine soul. The Town is a mother, lover, or daughter of the actions, dreams and passions of those who dwell in them or recall them in the distance. It is an idea in which wander those who have been caught up in its infinite labyrinth. PROCESS: I usually have not idea about what I will show on the surface. There is a lack of a script or previous sketch. Forms are born...

Reiner Makarowski - I don't like the usage of " uploading the importance and the meaning of artworks by words". I don't like it at all ... and I'm committed not to take place in this marketing game. The main influences of my work seem to be the so called classic modernism represented for example by works of Kandinsky, Klee, Braques a.o. Other influences come from many contemporary painters , for example guys who prefer the so called "lyrical expressionism". And of course I'm on the road to find and establish "my style". ...

Yuming Zhu - I land my brush with the force of a giant rock splashing into the ocean. I am not looking for a beautiful painting, but to express Life itself. Painting is just like a stacking of passions. Painting is a method of striping myself naked and facing the truth of my inner emotion. I invite the viewer to experience through my paintings the joy of being alive right at this moment. I believe I can do lots of things, but painting and poetry are the best beloved channels to express my complicated emotions. Originally from Shanghai, Yuming began studying under the masters at a young age. After his BA from China, Yuming came to the States and graduated from Sonoma State University with his MA in 1991. Working in oils, pastels and ChineseSumi Watercolors, Yumings work is a unique blend of East meets West artistry. It is a style that Yuming refers to as Transism, in reference to the constantly evolving interests, which include observations on modern life, a love of music, and an exploration of his own unique heritage. I paint to achieve balance and harmony. Once I reach that, I will for sure break itaEUR aEURoeMy art is just...

Martha Hayden - My painting is both realistic and abstract, it is on that elusive edge between there and not there. On first look everything is in place, then all dissolves. I want realism and abstraction to take turns. I want a painting sometimes very evocative of time and place, sometimes overwhelming in abstract, structural logic. I look for a surprise, a drama, a different way of seeing. I try not to see anything for itself alone, but as a part of the whole. In this context, my subjects take on meanings other than the accustomed ones. They are more than still life and landscape; they are comments on thinking and seeing. ...

Jerry Ross - Manifesto of American Verismo By Jerry Ross, 2012 "American verismo", a movement that I have recently founded, is a catch-all phrase for an artistic style that draws its main inspiration from Italian art, both classical and modern. There is an implied nostalgia for work done "dal vero" (after life) whether classical (Raphael, Rubens, or Caravaggio, etc.) or 19th century (the Tuscan I Macchiaioli school) or more contemporary. Verismo is somewhat akin to contemporary "atelier realism" but the latter has been criticized for an academic uniformity and its over attention to details. American verismo is more poetic and linked to post-impressionism, the Milan-based Scapigliatura ('wild hair') movement, and the I Machiaioli's commitment to social issues. But like atelier realism, American verismo is associated with a painterly sketching style, use of broad brushstrokes, and the alla prima, "direct attack" technique of painting. It is also linked to all'aperto (open air) impressionist-style landscape painting. In short, to pleinairism which has become widely popular in recent years. I first introduced the term during several classes he taught at the Maude Kerns Art Center in Eugene and then later at the "Angels Fight Road Art Center" plein air retreat...

Dario Raffaele Orioli - A painting, statue or other work of art speaks best for itself, without superfluous words, but to say a few words about my opinion about art. Art allows us to live, differently at different periods stages of life. Different already in character, temperament of each individual. Through art I seek man Of course, many painters run away from looking for a man because it is a painstaking job, so it is easier for them to end up in abstractions, concepts, etc. under the pretext that it is modern.Abstraction is a trip to the unknown, but after many years of such a trip to the unknown, one gets tired and realizes that he needs the peace and stability he can find in the knowledge of the world around him, which is right outside of him and if he knows how to look, he can think through it enjoy it here and now There is a saying that every living being is a snapshot of nature towards man, this can be applied to art ....Any abstraction is an artists shot at figuration.... Of course it can be the other way around, but what a world this would be if it were ...

Mehriban Efendiyeva - Artist Statement I have enjoyed painting since I opened my eyes wide to this fantastic world. When I was 5 years old I had an unusual feeling of being close to god, Space, and the Universe. That mystic sense has been the primary inspiration that has allowed my imagination to transfer my feelings from the sub consciousness to the consciousness of a paper .usually, nice music drives me up and I lose my sense of the reality .I like graphic art, oiland acrylic painting.. I love colour and it is my primary tool of expression as I use it to heighten the emotion of the natural world. Also unusual combinations of symbols, figures, and lines are the major characteristics that all my art works have incommon. I use colour in abstract, pieces to show balance, transformation and interaction of Artist's Statement: I have enjoyed painting since I opened my eyes wide to this fantastic world. When I was 5 years old I had an unusual feeling of being close to God, Space, and the Universe. That mystic sense has been the primary inspiration that has allowed my imagination to transfer my feelings from the sub consciousness to the consciousness ...

Pol Ledent - I am a self-taught artist. I was born in Belgium o, 23rd October 1952. I started painting in 1995 . I took some drawing lessons in the art academy in Dinant. I try to paint the landscapes of the countryside where I am living : the southern part of Belgium. Firts I took part in many collective exhibitions . Than, I had personal exhibitions in Rochehaut (Galerie La Potele), in Dinant (Galerie L'impression), in Paris (Rive Gauche Galerie Artimus) in Brussels (Galerie G-Loft).In 2004, I had three exhibitions, again In Rochehaut, galerie La Potele in May. Then, in September Exhibition Libr'art in Libramont. In November, Galerie Impression in Dinant. What people like most in my paintings are the colours. My art doesn't speak to the intellect but to the soul and to the feelings. Talink the risk to seem old fashioned , I would say it is rather romantic. I wish you much pleasure looking at my paintings.
