  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Mert Ulcay - Mert Ulcay was born in Istanbul, Turkey in 1974. After studying to obtain a Bachelor of Economics in Istanbul, he moved to Italy and successfully completed a Masters Degree in International Economics and Management in Milan. He started his painting studies in 1996 with Mehmet Guleryuz (one of Turkey's leading contemporary painters) at his Bilsak Atelier in Istanbul. He moved Sevinc Altan in 2000, who was a former assistant to Mehmet Guleryuz, opening two exhibitions with her atelier. His works were chosen by the Cagdas Sanat Committee in 2001, for an exhibition with other "up and coming artists" at the Contemporary Art Center in Istanbul. In 2003, he participated in the "International Art Action for Peace" exhibition, with several leading painters in Turkey and moved to Stuttgart, Germany, where he now lives and works, painting from his own atelier. Mert Ulcay's paintings can be described as being emotional, somewhat introvert and very figurative. Always being interested in different expressions of people and of hidden feelings shown from behind "the mask". MERT ULCAY- www.mertulcay.com ...

Lubov Meshulam Lemkovitch - Lubov Meshulam Lemkovich I am primarily a portrait painter. Whilst I experiment with different genres both abstract and realistic, my favorite genre has to be the art of portraiture. I am fascinated by life drawing; I love the people that I depict and I see in each of them a unique personality and beauty that is found in every man and every woman ... I communicate with the sitter and in the process of drawing I understand more and more about them; so much so that I can really relate on an individual basis to everyone I draw In the process of portrait painting there is a lot of psychology ... ultimately I believe the final result is a mutual understanding, rewarding to both parties ...

Seidai Tamura - I dedicate my life to realism, a representational rendition in oil. I am specialized in female nude works. Recently, Ive diverged into an erotic genre along with traditional, academic nudes. Due to controversial contents, I am not able to show my erotic pieces. Please message me, if you are interested to see my erotic works. They sell fast among collectors, but some are still available for purchase. Michael Kehrlein - painter, sculptor, textile artist ,My creations fit perfectly(sic) in a wabi sabi urban zen environment. Because I stubbornly believe all the care my hands give to each and every process of my textile creations or stone sculpture creates something more than just a "look." It may be subtle, but you know when you wear or touch. You know when that piece ages with you. You feel the thought of that person, who made it for you, the invisible. I work with "slow" materials, not flashy, not necessary pretty, not cheap, not easy, but those that will give a soul to the piece. I would like to offer you the best and unique. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. ...

Henry Woody Lindenmeyr - Woodys oil paintings have a refreshing take on landscape painting. Strong, bold, colorful, harmonizing strokes accurately recapitulate his subject in a fantastic manner. It is clear Woody not only has a passion for painting and the mountains, but a deep understanding of them as well. Only with this relationship is the artist able to interpret his subject with such depth and candor. Additionally, Lindenmeyr finds intriguing perspectives that are supported by sturdy composition, and a bold palette. These painterly qualities coalesce on the canvas to create a unique, contemporary work of art. Woody has earned a Fine Arts degree and has managed an art gallery. He has had several shows including a one man exhibit last January. His work hangs in private collections throughout the United States and Australia. Mr. Lindenmeyr resides in Crested Butte, CO with his wife amidst the Rocky Mountains....

Pamela Flynn - My work has always been grounded in issues from living the day to day. I see the visual world as a mirror of human priorities and in much of my work I use digital images from self taken photographs as a starting point. My work is process intense and is meant to initiate an examination of the inherent responsibility that goes with living. My work explores many different issues. Among which are: the use of technology to generate the work, the ability of art to quietly evoke visual memories, the juxtaposition of the uncontrolled and the controlled in living, the blurring of the boundaries between the serious and the trite, the questionable truth of the photo image. ...

Marilia Lutz - The act of creation is holy and profound in all its manifestations - not only the natural world surrounding us, but also the artistic manifestations representing life. Through my art, I try to represent and communicate visually what I believe illustrates the beauty of life and nature - from special moments or places, and from small things, whether symbolic or not. I find inspiration for my compositions in my surroundings, in moments that are for one reason or another important to me. I look deeply into my feelings to express what I believe is meaningful. Being an artist has been an exciting and overwhelming experience that enriches my life and gives me the opportunity to share with others some of my experiences, views and feelings. My preferred medium is oil on canvas; sometimes I explore other mediums such as pastel, charcoal, and graphite. I explore three basic themes in my compositions that I call: Trilogy; Insights in Forms and Shapes; and Visions of Places. "Trilogy" is a study where I represent what I believe to be the essence of life: the eternal and constant presence of three elements in many aspects of life and nature. "Insights in Forms and Shapes" it is...

Yuming Zhu - I land my brush with the force of a giant rock splashing into the ocean. I am not looking for a beautiful painting, but to express Life itself. Painting is just like a stacking of passions. Painting is a method of striping myself naked and facing the truth of my inner emotion. I invite the viewer to experience through my paintings the joy of being alive right at this moment. I believe I can do lots of things, but painting and poetry are the best beloved channels to express my complicated emotions. Originally from Shanghai, Yuming began studying under the masters at a young age. After his BA from China, Yuming came to the States and graduated from Sonoma State University with his MA in 1991. Working in oils, pastels and ChineseSumi Watercolors, Yumings work is a unique blend of East meets West artistry. It is a style that Yuming refers to as Transism, in reference to the constantly evolving interests, which include observations on modern life, a love of music, and an exploration of his own unique heritage. I paint to achieve balance and harmony. Once I reach that, I will for sure break itaEUR aEURoeMy art is just...

Claire Petit - In my work, beings of dream and intimacy migrate slowly to the merry-go-round of birth, death, and rebrith. Different periods and series rub shoulders in my decades of paintings. Duality breathes deeply, and from one life to the next, powerful feminine energy dominates moving, introspective, multiple, often wrapped in a gentle violence. Since 1989, I have been traveling and working between France and the United States. I had my first solo show in 1999 at the 24 Gallery in New York City. In 2004 my work was represented and exhibited at the Grant Gallery. In 2005 I left for Mexico, where I maintained a studio for three months in Oaxaca. From 2005 to 2010, my work was represented and exhibited by the Opera Gallery in New York City. During those years I regularly painted in New York. Since 2010 my work has been exhibited in Paris, Brussels, Luxembourg Metz. My studio is in Nancy, where I live. To purchase a copy of my 140 pages latest book please go to the News page of my website
