Artwork Description:

The board resumes the vision, according to my imagination, the thought of life “known” in its development and in the inscrutable moments of births and deaths can excite, in each human being of any faith, time and place. Three subsequent and communicating phases symbolize that way. At first, on the left, there is a passage between two red black walls to remember the interior of the maternal womb, where a child’s hand indicates the direction to follow. In the central part, life is illustrated as many time in the history of arts: an intricate labyrinth, pried through the walls dissected as if the observer could be inside and outside this global vision at the same time. However, this labyrinth develops in a spiral that essentially symbolizes the earthly way towards a point on the horizon from which we can be easily swallowed down. The flight point, where the stairs converge, replaces the zenith in fact. Besides, there is a special threedimensional relativity with a continuous exchange of planes. The stairs pierce the labyrinth as those peculiar passages that sometimes accelerate the course of life. There are some special ways. Many ways indeed lead to the same point, even from different departures or, on the contrary, from one point contiguous ways lead to different places. The architecture that defines the spiral partly illustrates the contingent situations, more or less consciously comprehensible by him who is going along them. Stale situations, with no way out, dangerous, repetitive, too exposed, or in solitude re from time to time symbolized by the stairs in the empty space, by abrupt conclusions, by grilles, by transparent panes of glass or mirrors, by forests… In the last part, on the left, finally, lines of force that seem to spring from the ruins of a gothic cathedral, architecture of memory and spirit par excellence, suggest a way on the up and up. The environment is necessarily concluded towards the right. He who wants stops or comes back, the one who wants look above. Everyone “chooses” if his life takes part in a unidirectional, ascensional, circular or annulling system. For sure earthly life is at the end and, even in the most varied diversity of final “solutions” there is always, somehow, a confrontation to stand with his just past life.
