Carnivale is one o two paintings Paradiso based on the Orange Bird of Paradise. The plant of consists of a base, beak of the bird, showy orange and yellow sepals and a blue flower protruding from the sepals. In my interpretation, I show the blue flower as a little bird trying to escape from the the sepals. Carnivale shows brightly colored buoyant parts in the plant. The sepals are shown as giant translucent shields of yellow and orange supported by a braided base. the small interior blue bird is about to escape with the aid of a floating, extraterrestrial companion. I try to create the drama of escape the clash of colors and unlike forms. This is the silence before the escape. Artists book, Perfection of Form, 2010, ils. pp-51-2.
