Artwork Description:
Victor Hagea is, at once, an artist and a thinker. His surrealist ontology of image reflects upon life and the beyond, man and the gods, time and space, dream and self-awareness. Most importantly, his art reflects upon the sacrificial condition of the artist in his struggle to unveil the truth, facing its dazzling vision, its Baroque moments of sublime twilight, as well as its shadow. Such is the poetic universe of Genesis, Mirror, The Escape, Lights and Shadow, or the mysterious thrill pervading The Wating for Icarus.

Caught up between the dynamic forces of the Apollonian and of the Dionysian the exemplary divine artistic models the visionary artist overcomes the very limits of his pictorial expression. Transfiguring the grain of his pictorial surface, he masterfully turns it into an imaginary entrance (Window, Summer Clouds), a specular trompe l-oeil, indeed, a Portal to enter another world.
