  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Katalin Luczay - Painting to me is an expression, interpretation, and appreciation of the world around me. In my opinion any art should inspire and elevate the human spirit. These types of art works are immortal, such as the works of the old masters. In my paintings I strive to achieve these ideals. I would describe my works as related as representational realism. In my seascapes I bring many different colors together to illustrate the movement of water. In my landscapes and still life works I like to emphasize the play of light as it hits a focal point. I like to paint in oil because I can achieve this sense of light and motion by glazing over layers, as well as in oil I can achieve a richness that I find limiting in other mediums. Please see my website at

Darla Fisher Odjig - 7th. World Aboriginal Image Maker Vision: the belief that symbology will be a huge part of the art. That all may project a uniqueness of their Indianess through this. I promote the essence of my culture through the educating of Cultural diversity & visions through symbols. The sharing through symbology/pictorial imaging precipitates a phenomenon of altruism and healing. Guidance through mind, heart, body and spirit is essential to envisioning a holistic sense of self. In reference to Creative Extraction, expression toward the enhancing of emotion and identification of authentic values and feelings enable release and validation. Building of inner strength and outer relationships are important to communicating who we are. Reflecting on shadow imaging and of internal elements will allow for visioning and creative connectedness. Our Community includes the participating of connecting with the public through the art and its symbolic representation regarding the intergenerational affect as illustrated by symbolic historical referencing and recording. The developing of inner creativity through outer expression allows a sense of identity and connecting of 2 worlds within. Integrating Aboriginal artistic mastery with Western/European mastery as a recognized fine artistry brings a unified and elegant fusion of a unique vision of true Canadian Fine ...

Ronald Lunn - As an artist, the art I create is something that doesnaEURtmt have a simple definition. My artwork is about personal growth, I constantly strive to evolve and improve my techniques. I enjoy creating each painting or drawing to visually speak to me and the viewer, tell a story, bring up a memory, or have a pleasing memorable image that feeds the vieweraEURtms heart and soul. I wish for that my artwork may continue leaving a lasting impression, to hopefully uplift and inspire everyone to experience those same emotions, pursue their own dreams and bring refreshment into their life, to see the beauty that exists around all of us. I cherish the feeling that art can be fun, it makes me smile and I still get such a sense of satisfaction from people whether negative or positive. I love what I do and am extremely passionate about the arts. ...

Ozzie Kajtezovic - All my paintings are original and unique,I don't make copies I don't make prints when you purchase painting you can be sure that there is only one painting like that. Each painting is painted with profesional oil paints and protected to last forever. There is collections of 45 paintings painted in last 2 years on locations of New Mexico and Arizona. Thank you Ozzie...

Mark Schwing - Ideally the artist is employed by society at large. The artist helps define culture and culture makes us who we are in whatever time and place we are at. Of course most of us are not living in caves anymore but even then art helped society function; helped the hunter hunt, showed people what to do. Art is still showing people what to do in a way. Whether it is raising awareness by showing what is going on, teaching by example or simply exploring ideas that give people ideas. My art is about ideas as much as anything else but it is a surrealistic and intuitive approach. So what is presented isn't a literal interpretation, it is more like exploring the idea with art. It is really another reality. It mirrors our reality and/or it is influenced by our reality. I can't help but be affected by what is going on around me and I am interested in the transcendental as well. Please visit my website, www.markschwing1.com, for more images....

Michael Kehrlein - painter, sculptor, textile artist ,My creations fit perfectly(sic) in a wabi sabi urban zen environment. Because I stubbornly believe all the care my hands give to each and every process of my textile creations or stone sculpture creates something more than just a "look." It may be subtle, but you know when you wear or touch. You know when that piece ages with you. You feel the thought of that person, who made it for you, the invisible. I work with "slow" materials, not flashy, not necessary pretty, not cheap, not easy, but those that will give a soul to the piece. I would like to offer you the best and unique. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. ...

Marilia Lutz - The act of creation is holy and profound in all its manifestations - not only the natural world surrounding us, but also the artistic manifestations representing life. Through my art, I try to represent and communicate visually what I believe illustrates the beauty of life and nature - from special moments or places, and from small things, whether symbolic or not. I find inspiration for my compositions in my surroundings, in moments that are for one reason or another important to me. I look deeply into my feelings to express what I believe is meaningful. Being an artist has been an exciting and overwhelming experience that enriches my life and gives me the opportunity to share with others some of my experiences, views and feelings. My preferred medium is oil on canvas; sometimes I explore other mediums such as pastel, charcoal, and graphite. I explore three basic themes in my compositions that I call: Trilogy; Insights in Forms and Shapes; and Visions of Places. "Trilogy" is a study where I represent what I believe to be the essence of life: the eternal and constant presence of three elements in many aspects of life and nature. "Insights in Forms and Shapes" it is...

Malcolm Tuffnell - Malcolm Tuffnell Is a tremendous talent in contemporary figurative painting. His works exist between a realistic drawn representation of the female figure and an abstract use of impasto and color. He has been exploring the possibilities of oil paint and pastel for over 30 years, with particular attention paid to how color layers interact with eachother; specifically how thin overglazes of a strong color, for example phthalo blue or rose red, can change the character of the paint or pastel underneath them in unexpected ways, producing many new colors while neutralizing others into grays. He has chosen the female form as the subject of his paintings for its beauty, sensuality and historical precedent. He uses the fluidity of oil to express the sensuality of nude skin. Many of his works derive inspiration from the frequent opera and ballet performances he attends, such as Madame Butterfly and The Nutcracker ballet. However, he does not intend to illustrate a story explicitly but instead to suggest a more vague emotional narrative. Education/Accomplishments From 1977-1979 Mr. Tuffnell attended the University of California, Santa Barbara and studied with noted teacher Gary Brown; when there he traveled to Europe, where he was inspired to ...

Randy Sprout - I grew up in a small town in Northern Iowa, played football, coached the swimming team, and graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA in printmaking studying under Mauricio Lasansky. I then went into the Army and ended up pulling 13 months in Korea on the DMZ. Coming out of Korea I entered UCLA and earned a MA and MFA in printmaking while studying under Jan Stussy and Stanton Mac-Donald Wright. The next year after the funds dried up on my Fulbright Award to Portugal, because of the Angola War, I was lucky to get hired by USC where I taught printmaking as a junior faculty member. I also replaced professors at UCLA when they went on sabaticals, and taught one year at Pierce College. In 1977 I tried Real Estate, you know just for the summer, but by fall I had purchased Century 21 Hollywood Inc. and had a new vocation going. Now 31 years into real estate, I'm coming full circle and starting to paint little quick studies 9X12. I'm using just 1/2 inch brushes and 5 colors. I intentionally limit my time to 2 hours after which I stop and throw ...

Alain Nicolet - Alain Nicolet was born in 1951. He works on painting since 1977 and had a lot of exhibitions in France Switzerland, USA, etc. His work is like a long way to understand what painting, life, time or memory could mean. This painting asks questions, doesn't show final answers and try to find a way to ask more and more, and better...... Aniko Hencz - I have been drawing and painting ever since I could hold a pencil in my hand...Most of my works are inspired by nature, buildings and personal feelings which end in abstract or conceptual paintings and drawings - it all depends on my mood. My favorite technique is watercolor and ink, but I also like to paint with acrylic or oil. Another medium I create in, is digital art, where my works are the creations of my imagination. I like to experiment and learn new techniques, thus I ventured myself in creating jewelry. When Im not painting, I make one of a kind beaded and wire wrapped pendants. I sell my pieces worldwide, commission works are also welcome - contact me if you wish something special. ...

Sven Froekjaer Jensen - To build a bridge between different worlds of expression, to span the abyss between the diversity of human minds, to reach out for the sublime, that is my challenge. Therefore I have to maneuver in a battlefield between old techniques and the new expressions of our time. That means to work in two directions all the time, one way from the old masters of the 19th century especially the drawing skills of the so called Copenhagen school with a very profound technical base, and the other way a freedom of expression, that is the only highway to the description of our time and the dreams and goals of present life. One could express it in another way saying, that I make modern myths in my fabulating paintings. But on the other hand the technical skills acquired from the drawing exercises are a necessity for getting the freedom that makes the fabulations possible. By creating the nonverbal myths on my canvasses I hope to reach the onlooker in a way that brings our minds together so we can walk the paths of understanding - dreaming the very old dreams of humanity. Therefore I work very intensely with drawings of the human and...

Tyrone Neuland - My paintings follow very much in the long established tradition of the Expressionists, using intensity of color and gestural brushstrokes to portray the intensity of feeling and emotion. While also attempting to find a balance between art and today's technology, I am integrating digital imagery into my pieces, using them as a tool to enhance subject matter. These paintings/drawings are developed from personal and emotional feelings that are sparked by the day-to-day experiences of a father, husband, employee, son and general spectator of the modern world. They are not formed as judgement statements but constructed out of a reactionary consciousness to the particular subject matter. The plan is to portray that secret level of honesty that is often misinterpreted as cynicism, by taking a specific person, place or thing and turning it into a thought provoking generality in which the viewer can use their own lives to draw a conclusion....
