Lana Picciano - Musical compositions are everywhere in nature. Most of my inspiration for the artwork colors and compositions are derived from landscapes, their light, color and moodiness. The sounds, the colors, and the the quiet spaces, touch me and stir the energies of my soul. I connect to the spirit that lightens our hearts and feeds the soul. My work is upbeat and joyful. The colors are bright and can be very playful. The art takes on a life of its own and becomes one with the surroundings. Nature has many colors, sounds, rhythms and moods. All of them are inspiring are inspiring to me. The painting is borne from within and finds its life in visual art. I begin with small colorful sketches using pastels, guache, oil pastels, etc. The colors and shapes are pushed around on art paper until they begin feel right. Little by little the colors and shapes are worked and re-worked, pushed and pulled. Once I am satisfied that the identity of the sketch is clear, I translate onto canvas with oil paints. The oil paint medium when applied to the canvas creates additional changes. The oils are worked very thin in layers. As the layers ...
Israel Tsvaygenbaum - I believe that art is as necessary as the air we breathe; it is what makes us human. As an artist, my role is to help people fulfill this need. My medium is oil on canvas. I like the roughness, the vibrancy of oil. Through oil, I can best express myself. I love the process of painting. When I'm painting, I don't think about the finished product or the viewer; I just focus on being true to the process. Before I ever touch the canvas, or begin to sketch, I let the images swirl around in my mind. Then, I begin a series of sketches to translate my thoughts into more concrete images. As the images take shape on the canvas, they begin to change. Sometimes, I myself am surprised at the outcome. What kind of painting do I do? I don't like labels; I prefer to be free to interpret my ideas as they come to me. Some of the themes that have figured in my paintings are my personal past, Jewish history, Biblical themes and nature. A number of my paintings are set in Derbent, a city in the south of Russia where I spent ...
Durlabh Singh - Sice R.Mutt's urinal, visual art in the western world has suffered a shock & a decline. It has become mere conceptual & has gone back to literary traditions of making statements.Abstraction has become a puritan's attitude of non-depiction of human body in a dignified form.My art is a sort of revolt against this kind of pseudo-intellectualism. My art takes account of both biological & metaphysical aspect of human body.It is a breakthrough to new levels of reality creating significant forms necessary for development of human spirit. I welcome any suggestions or comments regarding my work. If anyone is interested in buying please contact me.Main aim of my art has never been financial gains. I have exhibited all over the world including India, Kenya, Helsinki, Paris, London & New york etc.My work is in private & public collections incliding Ministry Of DefenceLondon & Horniman Museum London....
Jacinta Crowley_Long - Living surrounded by her animals in Wicklow, Ireland, this professional artist has a deserved reputation as Irelands foremost contemporary canine and equestrian artist. An award winning full time professional artist, Jacinta graduated with a PhD from University College, Cork and now has both a national and international reputation for her paintings of rural landscapes, country life, period interiors and equine and dog studies. She lives in and works from an 18th century country rectory in the heart of Wicklow. Her subject matter depicts the genteel splendour, pursuits and often eccentricities of Irelands surviving country houses and demesnes. She has been selected in recent years to exhibit at the prestigious International Exhibition of Equestrian Art at both Chisties and the Mall Galleries, London. This exhibition is staged annually to showcase the work of the best of International Equine artists. The empathy she clearly has for her subjects, allied with her technical ability, knowledge of anatomy and acute observation can be seen in her evocative paintings of animals and country artifacts - all drawn from the farmyard, gardens and fields surrounding her home. Her landscapes portray an other-worldly atmosphere of moments caught in time and depict anachronistic experiences and a way of...
Richard Donagrandi - My works are abstract landscapes built around the idea that most folk aren't very aware of their surroundings or place in the world. I am inspired by the ancient Hindu practice of seeing without seeing; being without being; and the Buddhist practices of contemplation, cognition, and awareness. To express these ideas, I choose to paint landscapes blurred out to give only the impression of color and pattern. The color, pattern, and light become the details. Born from more of a complete non-objective style, I've begun to focus more on real landscape locations ranging from urban to rural from places I've lived or traveled. Blurring the image, to me, becomes a contemplation on the impermanence of the original image; embodying a buddhist meditation technique of imaging everyone you know and everywhere you've been, has passed away....
Mikhail Priorov - Born in Yaroslavl in 1959, Mikhail Priorov studied at the Art School from 1973 to 1977 and graduated from Moscow Art College in 1982. He pursued his artistic training at the famous Stroganoff Art University, graduating in 1987 when he began to work at the Zagorsk Artistic Fund. That same year Mikhail joined the International Federation of Artists. Since 1981 Priorov has participated in numerous local, national and international exhibitions. Solo exhibitions include ACTION, Moscow in 1998 ; Moscow Artists on TV, also in 1998 ; Noise Club in 1997, as well as RT Gallery for the Arts and the Winter Nights Festival. In 1996 he showed at the Russian Division of Culture; in 1995 at Chaffee Center, Vermont, USA; and in 1993 at Chasse Loup-Laubat 17, Paris. In 1987 he began combining painting with tapestry design and mural work. A considerable part of his work is devoted to musical cycles, totaling thousands of pieces no two of which can be called identical. No matter how many times the artist returns to the chosen theme, he never fails to be innovative, conveying endless compositional variations. Strong attachment to his national heritage and traditional Russian icon painting greatly influence his work. In ...
Pham Kien Giang - Please patiently listen to! People often say the artists paint by their eyes, but I - myself do not understand why I paint by my ears. I often sit alone, close my eyes and listen to the sound from the life, from the memory, listen to the echo from somewhere "The wind from somewhere is same to the echo of time immemorial My way I am walking has imprinted a lot of the people . The blades of grass, foot of the trees are quivering as talking together The rustle of the storks in the sky is same to calling for the freedom " Suddenly, I am aware of something which . Stephen Fessler - Artist's Statement: Visionism All my images are born accidentally. I tack my studio dropcloths onto the wall once they've become sufficiently splattered with paint, and search the surface for suggestions. I'll discover an image within a tangle of marks, and paint to free it, an archaeologist unearthing an artifact. This process leads to related discoveries, and the more I find, the better I understand the space they inhabit, and a painting is underway. In this way does the painting gradually reveal its content and mood. Everything I like of the art I've seen, Eastern and Western, ancient and modern, sacred and profane, ends up in my work. It must be that, as I gaze at my randomly stained surfaces, these remembered images give clues as to what to look for. The larger canvases are free-hanging, fitted with grommets and intended to be tacked directly to the wall like a tapestry or banner. Smaller works on canvas are mounted and stretched so as to preserve their irregular edges. Stephen Fessler Artists' Statement: Directed Perception My mode of seeing changes when something has caught my attention. My "directed perception" chooses what I will see while obscuring everything...
Jerry Sauls - As I see it, the challenge to me as an artist, is not only to paint nature in all her glory and diversity, but also to capture the emotion a scene evokes and incorporate that emotion into the mixing of paint on my palette and into my brushstrokes as the paint is applied to the canvas. Detail, color and texture are as important to my work, as light and the elements are to nature. When planning a new work of art, I like to think about something I have experienced, and how the image can be influenced by natural elements like light and weather. Often, I will begin working with a particular image in my mind, and as I progress, wonderful things seem to happen, transforming my visual image as it is passed onto the canvas. As a result, the completed work is sometimes very different from my original vision. ...
Alexander Mikheychik - Until recently, it was too painful for me to part with my paintings, but now, it seems to me, they should bring joy to other people. I've been practicing yoga for more than 30 years and have a good sense of aura of other people and things. I think that paintings are energetic objects and have their own aura. Aura is the basic factor influencing the spectator (not just the form and color - factors that are essentially secondary). All the masterpieces known in art history have high inner energy that could be measured, even in quantitative terms. The painting's energy is a compound of the energy of the painted objects and characters, the energy of the painter himself, but, most importantly, the energy of the painting gets higher depending on how close the artist came to the understanding of the harmony of the surrounding world. Only then he becomes the mediator for the energy, the source of which is much higher than his own self. When an artist begins to interact with the harmonic foundations of the universe, with the energy of higher source, it starts to influence the rhythm and the harmony of his paintings. The artist ...
Patrick Sean Kelley - Behind the Art There is nothing more intimidating than standing in front of a blank canvas and wondering what it will become. There is also nothing more exhilarating. As I begin to apply paint to canvas I find my work seems to be in continuous motion. Always changing. Always progressing. Much like the oil paints that actually embody my visions. I am influenced by many places, things, people and of course, many artists. My latest work is changing yet again. The palette has become softer more jewel toned and the subjects more somber. They speak to me as I paint each stroke awaiting life on the canvas. I am clearly influenced by some of the more modern masters like, Klimpt, Kandinsky, Mirot, Caldwell and as always, Picasso. The art is Inspired by the subject. By a woman's beauty as it is seen and felt both internally and externally. The images in my vision actually seem to mask their true identities as they glance out at the viewer exuding an air of aloofness and mystique. Each stroke is painstakingly smoothed and controlled to create subtle dimensions and color that create the mysterious creatures that appear to come to life on ...
