  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Mikhail Priorov - Born in Yaroslavl in 1959, Mikhail Priorov studied at the Art School from 1973 to 1977 and graduated from Moscow Art College in 1982. He pursued his artistic training at the famous Stroganoff Art University, graduating in 1987 when he began to work at the Zagorsk Artistic Fund. That same year Mikhail joined the International Federation of Artists. Since 1981 Priorov has participated in numerous local, national and international exhibitions. Solo exhibitions include ACTION, Moscow in 1998 ; Moscow Artists on TV, also in 1998 ; Noise Club in 1997, as well as RT Gallery for the Arts and the Winter Nights Festival. In 1996 he showed at the Russian Division of Culture; in 1995 at Chaffee Center, Vermont, USA; and in 1993 at Chasse Loup-Laubat 17, Paris. In 1987 he began combining painting with tapestry design and mural work. A considerable part of his work is devoted to musical cycles, totaling thousands of pieces no two of which can be called identical. No matter how many times the artist returns to the chosen theme, he never fails to be innovative, conveying endless compositional variations. Strong attachment to his national heritage and traditional Russian icon painting greatly influence his work. In ...

David Welsh - David Welsh was born in Derbyshire (1937), and educated at Eton and King's College, Cambridge. Now retired, his main career has been as a teacher, but painting has never been far behind, especially in the last ten years. He enjoys portrait painting as well as landscape work where his specialities are the effect of light, often on water, and interesting and dramatic clouds and skies. He has always worked in oils, a medium that he finds very suitable for all the effects he wants to achieve. He has been much influenced by a group of contemporary English artists, who are not Avant-garde, but rather proceed from the Impressionist tradition. He admires, among others, artists like Roy Petley, Fred Cuming, Ken Howard and Bernard Dunstan. ...

David Welsh - Minh Hang - Through life struggle I was able to understand the profound meaning of my surrounding. Each experienced take me to a different level of awareness and a vision with wiser perspective. Art was a mean for me to coped with all the hardship and struggle in my life, each time i pickup a paint brush i went in to a trend that take me deep down to the cord of my spirituality until i feel my hand was guided by a super being, at this stage i found my sense of security. The process of creating is like a journey to discover a new self and a new world. I like to provoked the deep sense of my emotion where i can create mood that give me the excitement and energy in the process. to me, I found that black and white visually give me a pure sense of reality and raw emotion like a documentary told the story the way it is. with just a simple medium such as black charcoal, ink and acrylic to convey an idea on to a canvas through light and shadow, form and composition to form a visually excitement finish piece of art work. ...

Pham Kien Giang - Please patiently listen to! People often say the artists paint by their eyes, but I - myself do not understand why I paint by my ears. I often sit alone, close my eyes and listen to the sound from the life, from the memory, listen to the echo from somewhere "The wind from somewhere is same to the echo of time immemorial My way I am walking has imprinted a lot of the people . The blades of grass, foot of the trees are quivering as talking together The rustle of the storks in the sky is same to calling for the freedom " Suddenly, I am aware of something which . Updated on November 8th 2010...

Barry Boobis - Musical Visions is a body of work devoted to all themes of Music. These themes traverse the worlds of jazz, dance, rock, nature, spirit, and beyond. These musical themes are explored in the universes of realism and abstract, often combining both at a level of Spirit. Having practiced Zen meditation I see all mediums of art as One, which is derived from the ancient Buddhist scriptures. My Greatgrandfather wrote the "Hatikvah," national anthem of Israel, and my father was a jazz piano player, as well as a commercial artist, so the genetic splicing is readily obvious. The heritage of music, as well as art and spirit informs the work, and I offer it as a form of celebration of heightened sensibility. Joyousness, rapture, and expression, not just existence! As artist- in- residence at the Bluenote jazz club in NYC, and a participant in the Newport Jazz Festival and the Saratoga Jazz Festival for many years, I have had the great opportunity to bring this work to lovers of music as well as art throughout the Eastern Seabord of the USA. I now welcome the opportunity to bring it to the world- at- large through absolutearts.com. Please celebrate with me! ...

Sonja Kobrehel - My work in visual arts reflects the constant changes and experiences in my personal life. I am guided by my feelings, thoughts, dreams and visions. The sources of my inspiration are many: an appreciation for personalities and the human scale: in particular, I love to look for traces of people who came before and clues about what they did there and why. Journeys are an integral part of my artistic inspiration. The Mediterranean and Adriatic atmosphere that pervades my work comes from the summers I spent on the French and Adriatic coasts.I am always intrigued by the human cultural elements and visual stimulation that I encounter.I find that every place and culture reveals its beauty to me though everyday life. I like to use symbols in my art work and while creating my personal iconography. The symbols are clues to many aspects of my life, but my paintings usually start with a color idea, then evolve into compositions in which color is the primary subject. I work in collage, various media on paper and canvas, mixing everything possible together in a visual format for public display.Much attention is given to the surface texture by adding different materials, ...

Sonja Kobrehel - Massimo Zilioli - I am born in the' 53, to Turin (Italy), but I consider an italian stateless person. To the age of 19 years I take the sea, beginning to furrow the blue of the world with the uniform of official of the Italian merchant marine, and under - activity, amatorial and not, like astrologer, painter, musician; for last the activity of goldsmith with which I will stop sailing for the seas of the world, I had 40 years. In the'99 I take artistic diploma to the L.S. " P. Klee ", one beautiful experience, enriching. Currently I have a employment that concurs me to survive, with the rest I alive. I have collected into this site my meta-phisical paintings with a sure thematic order, not temporal since to times the " topics ", during my artistic production, were overlapped. Good vision...

Vladimir Kezerashvili - I can't paint without a contact with a life object or picture of some sort. Hours of silent observation open a path to the object's beauty from its intrinsic nature. The longer I look and more layers of paint I add "the more abstract it becomes, and, ironically the more real" (Lucian Freud). I have no interest in a search of newness to justify my work; neither have I sought to establish myself via certain painting style or concept. I feel human when I paint, perhaps, because the painting is reminiscent of love and I hope this love is reciprocal....

Armand Cabrera - My goal as an artist is to convey the joy and awe I feel when witnessing the beauty of the world we inhabit. I have been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember. I paint everyday because it is what I love to do. Painting is the most fulfilling work I've ever found. I am dedicated to strive, at all times, to be the best artist I can be and to paint for as long as I am capable. Alla prima painting presents the challenge to record my immediate experience of the land. The subject can be as simple as a willow branch touching a stream or as grand as a sunset in the Rocky Mountains. Painting from life is extremely rewarding to me as an artist. I find it the most honest form of painting. Standing with an easel before the land---that's when all the years of practice come into play--- the discipline to record the fleeting moment on canvas before it disappears forever. Always remember that the land supports us---that we are part of it--- connected to the earth in ways we can't fully understand. We must be ever diligent...
