  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Michael Arnold - Art for me is a creative release, therefore I have no boundaries in my work. I work on what moves me spiritually, visually and creatively. I enjoy many different styles including impressionism, pop art, abstract expressionism, naturalism, post-impressionism, art deco and contemporary. All of these styles influence my work, but do not define my style. I primarily work in acrylics, but have produced works in pastels, graphite, charcoal colored pencils and ink. Caren Keyser - My expressionist paintings are done using an intuitive process. I begin with the paint and then allow the paint and my subconscious to lead me to the subject matter. Exciting interactions between colors evolve from brushwork, pouring, glazing, spraying and other techniques. I strive to show the essence of the subject rather than paint an overly realistic image. I never know what I will find next in my work. I hope it will be dramatic and emotional. Note that the paintings are not framed. ------------------------------------- I began painting professionally in 1977 after studying art at Florida Atlantic University. There I explored the many styles and techniques available to the acrylic painter. My first photo-realism style piece was created while attending FAU. I knew from that moment that realistic nature scenes would be my style of choice. This remained my theme and style until after 2005. As time has passed my work has changed and become more creative in its processes. Color is still the dominant feature in my work. As my focus has shifted toward expressionism I stored my realism pieces. The originals of many of them are still available for purchase and are included in my inventory here at ...

Mark Schwing - Ideally the artist is employed by society at large. The artist helps define culture and culture makes us who we are in whatever time and place we are at. Of course most of us are not living in caves anymore but even then art helped society function; helped the hunter hunt, showed people what to do. Art is still showing people what to do in a way. Whether it is raising awareness by showing what is going on, teaching by example or simply exploring ideas that give people ideas. My art is about ideas as much as anything else but it is a surrealistic and intuitive approach. So what is presented isn't a literal interpretation, it is more like exploring the idea with art. It is really another reality. It mirrors our reality and/or it is influenced by our reality. I can't help but be affected by what is going on around me and I am interested in the transcendental as well. Please visit my website, www.markschwing1.com, for more images....

Kathleen Flowers - As a multidisciplinary artist, Flowers' work is currently based on the idea of Design in Nature. Through the art of abstract, her content and inspiration often comes from the beauty found in nature that surrounds her on a day to day basis. The work focus on many themes that are symbolic and personal to her. The paintings are abstract, figurative and non-objective. Her paintings and drawing are filled with serene colors, painted with acrylic and other mediums giving them an aesthetic visual affect while appealing to the senses and are created to evoke a visceral effect from within. ...

Anita Zotkina - The subject of my artworks is a spiritual journey into subconscious world and exploration of our interconnectedness with each other and with all sentient beings in the Universe. My images are coming to me in the form of random downloads, that I draw down on a scratch paper, and which later I replicate in color. My main medium is oil on canvas aEUR" I enjoy its thickness and permanence. I also work with Acrylic on paper, it gives me an opportunity to create works of different texture and level of details. I am also working with charcoal and pastel. I strongly believe in a beautiful and harmonious world and trying to express the feelings of love, compassion, inner peace and appreciation. ...

Smita Biswas - I am an entrepreneur turned artist. A self taught artist. I strongly feel that art doesnt require any institutional degree or training. We just need to profoundly connect with our innermost self. Art for me is a truly metaphysical activity in this materialistic world. Most of my art work touches the subject of contemporary abstract art....

Margaret Thompson - Nothing is what it seems. I am fascinated by the mystery and ambiguity that can come from working with collaged painted papers, and multi-plate printmaking. The initial layering process is usually one of spontaneity and serendipity, and, only later, when the painting starts to take on a life of its own, do I think more consciously about its meaning, the composition, its form and colour. The title is only one way in to reading my pictures, and is merely a proposal: the most interesting aspect to me is what the viewer brings to the understanding of the work.I have a great admiration for Kurt Schwitters, the master of collage, Helen Frankenthaler, master of colour and subtlety, Kandinsky and Miro. I regularly exhibit in London, France and the US....

Sowjanya Tirunagari - I am an emerging artist, mostly self taught. I have had great passion for art since my childhood. At this time of my life journey I have the desire to take my passion to a more professional level. Every art and every style inspires me. I love how the vibrant colors talk to each other and want to experiment with different styles of art. I am also a big nature lover and most of my art is trying to capture the beauty of it. Coming from a rich cultural background I also like to showcase it through my art. This is my first step towards advancing to the next level in my art journey. I hope you all will encourage me....
