  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Mary Hatch - Mary Hatch has had a strong interest in art beginning painting and art classes when she was twelve, and visiting the Dallas Museum of Art, and A The Chicago Art Institute regularly made an impression on her style by seeing famous paintings. She studied art at UT Arlington, and transferred in her junior year to the Architecture department from the Art department, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and is a Registered Texas Architect and Interior Designer. She additionally studied printmaking at TCU and the University of Dallas. Seeing other museums also created a great love for art including the Kimbell Art Museum, Louvre, Prada, Kunsthistorisches, Ufizzi, and The National Gallery. In the late 70s, she participated in multiple gallery art shows, university exhibits and Dallas WomanaEURtms Caucus of Art and Texas Visual Artist competitions. In the mid 80aEURtms she attended an Adams Middleton Gallery, Dallas, TX, art show for the abstract expressionist, Herbert Ferber, at his art exhibition. His vast canvases with sculptured facade inspired her to paint large. In the 90's, the New Mexico Series was inspired by the Southwest and multiple trips to Santa Fe, NM. During 2006-2009, she was painting seascapes ...

Leonard Parker - Dr. Leonard W. Parker's artistic style lends realism to his landscapes and seascapes by viewing both from a distance or up close! As a university professor, he has grasped the techniques of oil painting from his own personal research and study. His works have been displayed locally, but his desire is to gain wider notariety. Parker has adopted the phrase "'Scapes in oil" to tell both buyers and sellers that his greatest love is representing as real as possible God's wonderful world in which we live! One would desire to display his landscapes and seascapes in a variety of settings. Dr. Parker also has had commissioned art from photographs. Buyers of his artwork have come to cherish their original oil painting on canvas as heirlooms. ...

Amanda Scott - About the Artist Amanda Scott has been a dedicated artist for over ten years. She has been a self directed student taking classes, learning from other artists, and sitting in on hundreds of University lectures while working as an Art Model. The diversity of her experience supports the diversity of her art in style and medium. Her muse is usually the female figure. Her works have been exhibited in Local coffee shops, Open air Art Walks, and group shows. She is resident of Maui. Her work can be found at Maui Hands Gallery. Artist Statement I make art because for awhile I am transported to a fantasy world of my own creation. I've often wondered if I could be more practical, less of a dreamer. However, every time I've thought of giving away my paints it felt like I was dying. My paintings celebrate and explore humankind. My journey as an artist is inspired by the light that imbues one's life when one pursues their joy....

Amanda Scott - Jean-Luc Lacroix - Jean-Luc Lacroix offers to older tools, utensils or other items the chance of a life more beautiful, a contemplative retreat. His talent in the art of recovery and his imagination in the creative reconstruction are without limits. A chair or a console in the sculptured design gives the tray of a pedal assembly the elegance of lace, a fifth wheel as a small pedestal table makes it a beautiful set to pulleys and cranks... But the effect of his work would be incomplete if it did not emphasize the humor that runs through each part: a phantasmagoric bestiary or realistic vain brightenes his work, as well as suggestive names like aEURoeHangover seweraEUR, aEURoeUrlubaEUR or aEURoeBrutusaEUR. Abroad (paintings & sculptures): - represented by Jacques Boulan (Art Editor): Japan. Sweden. Norway. Germany. France. - USA. Belgium. Luxemburg. Spain. United Kingdom. From 2009 to 2010 - Luxemburg, City Bank 1998 - Geneve (Gallery ) 2001 - Rotary Club "Recup Art", Charleroi (Belgium) 2008 - Gallery San Pedro, California / Chattanooga, Tennessee 2004 - "Don Quichotte", Logrono, Spain 2004 - Casa delle Culture, Cosenza (87100) Italy 2006 - "Rot Mail Art Project" in Stuttgart, Brazil, Chicago, Hungaria, Yeshkar (Russia), Canada, Spain Personal exhibitions in France - Exhibition at "Savour Club" Paris 16 (near "Maison de la ...

Chris Gould - Never the studious young boy, I spent most of my class time drawing sketches in the pages of my notebooks. Santa Anna, raising his sword in the battle for the Alamo buried deep within my notebook jumped out and attacked my father one evening while he help me with my homework. He counter attacked by hurling, "you will never be anything doing stuff like this", and I believed him. In school I loved art class, excelled and looked forward to it but never believed that I could be something there. When I went to college I focused on art and graduated near the top of my class with a BFA, and still believed that I would never be anything. After all, all I needed was a degree. With diploma in hand I entered the professional world with the ambition to climb the corporate ladder. Climb and climb to be something. Reaching to be something, I fall on art as therapy for the stress and anxiety that being something brings. Now I am something and nothing at the same time because I don't believe any more. And now I want to be something else. It is here in this ambition ...

Chris Gould - Marek Kasprzak - The characters, objects, a structure embedded in an unspecified environment is the subject of most of my work. A surreal world full of inscrutable forms of pervasive emotional landscapes of the soul. The beginning is usually only an outline, a boost to the entrance of the land of colors, where the brush shows the way.The content of my images is the result of exploring further layers of smoldering visions. Defining the purpose of the work is unknown, but the temptation to visit the intangible places is huge. This portfolio is the beginning of a journey into the recesses of my imagination. Are you sure that the door which you are knocking at are to open? ...

John Cielukowski - I focus on painting what interests and fascinates me. I also try to promote awareness of animal welfare issues through my paintings. I donate my work to local and national animal welfare and environmental organizations for their fundraising efforts. I received my BA in Fine Arts from Montclair University in New Jersey. I also studied at the School of Visual Arts SVA and The Art Students League in New York City. I am a founding member and board member of the Studios of Cocoa Beach, Florida. I am also an active member of the Central Brevard Art Association, located in Rockledge, Florida. ...

John E Metcalfe - My focus is to depict light in new and unique ways. With each painting I create, I explore the fundamental elements of light and how the viewer actually sees and interprets colors. I intuitively seek to mix unconventional color combinations and techniques that provide just enough information to form that image. I often reduce the subject to the elements necessary to depict light and infuse motion. As a lifelong resident of Florida, I have always been fascinated by the play of tropical light on the land, the water, and the vegetation. It is my muse and a constant source of inspiration. The light in my paintings is not solely conveyed through the interaction of color. It is also a result of how the depth, angle, and buildup of the brush strokes capture and reflect light and shadow on each canvas. I love to create textural expressions of light and movement, surface tension and perspective. The vision for each of my works is to bring a little more joy into the vieweraEURtms life and to provide new ways of seeing the elements of light. jem...

Dariya Afanaseva - All my works are dedicated to the themes of relationship and sensation translated on a language of painting. For example, relationship between people. Relationships human about him/her self and to outward things. And some of my works are about memories and thoughts. And also it is interesting for me to reproduce an eluding moment, an impression in a matter of seconds, fragments of life. Just because everything depends on nuance. Three main styles I work in are abstractionism, expressionism and a bit of pop-art. But these styles are not just as they are, it`s always a combination of them. Some of my Abstract works represent things that aren't visual, such an emotion, mood, feeling, sound and so on. These works are very association. My figurative abstractions are simplifications of reality, where detail is eliminated from recognisable objects leaving only the essence or some degree of recognizable form. Some works are expressive. I just let my intuition guide me. Not to thinking, not to be doubt of anything. It is about trusting the process and setting free the instincts. And also I like decorativeness and beauty of coloring. My choice of medium are acrylic and mixed media ...

Andrea Farmer - Andrea Farmer is a contemporary fine artist from Chelmsford, Essex, England. She specialises in abstract land art. Her paintings are held in collections worldwide. The ethereal landscape paintings focus on the British rural and coastal landscape. In particular, the way that light across the land creates abstract patterns, reflections and movement causing changes to perceived colour vision. These paintings have a glowing, sometimes hazy effect with opulent colours and evocative forms that melt into one another, creating an ethereal atmosphere. Learn more about Andrea's artistic journey by following her blog: www.andreafarmerart.blogspot.com PLEASE NOTE - I ship from the UK via courier. Please feel free to contact me with any queries. Thank you....

Patrick Lynch - Inspired by the English Pre-Raphaelites and the writings of late Victorian Kentucky poets Madison J. Cawein and Robert Burns Wilson, my paintings are of the eternal human quest for love set in a lost Gothic world inhabited primarily by women who are caught in the contradictions of their dreams and how they have found their world to actually be. Many of the inhabitants are haunted, but not by supernatural forces. When ghosts appear, they are not always the spirits of lost loved ones, more often, they are the ghosts of an idea or dream-for example, the idea that one can find a lifelong and true love or of that one person who simply cannot be forgotten. The women who spread their wings are not angels in the expected sense; their wings are a manifestation of the forces that shape their lives. Men are sometimes present in my images, often in an embrace of acceptance and partnership as they share the immutable longing for love. At other times, men are found at that pivotal moment of undesired separation or are reaching out to comfort those in pain. But not every moment is one of tragic endings. There are moments ...
