  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Eun Yun - Artist statement Eun young yun When I was a little, I felt some inspiration from old masterpiece paintings such as Rembrandt. Since then, I dreamed to be a great figurative artist like them. So, I studied Fine Arts at Kyuong Song University in Korea specialized in oil painting and watercolor. I paint in oils, mainly because I like the richness and depth of color that can be achieved in this medium.. I want to tell story about people. What they doing in this season or on this moment? I want to describe beautifully about that. In order to go to first step, I have focused on figure painting in tradition. Mostly I paint from live models. I have tried to capture them in my paintings through the considered natural flash skin color tone, value, and correct drawing form as well as constantly fresh challenges and demands adds to my interest in and excitement about painting. There are also two elements that interest in me most is light and color. I am constantly fascinated by the way that a certain quality of light radically alters the character and impact of a subject and makes it something unique. I think it is...

Pat Heydlauff - I discovered my love for painting in 1993 as I was transitioning out of a stress filled career and exploring my creative side. As a colorist, I painted lively, vibrant mainstream artwork consisting of landscapes, florals and still-lifes. Through painting I noticed my life was becoming balanced, and filled with harmony instead of stress. Painting allowed me to discover my spiritual nature and peace within and lead me to paint in a stream of consciousness flowing with energy. This flow of consciousness energy is visible in my recent "art with a message" canvas work where you can always find hope, peace and joy in the subject matter and every brush stroke. Painting is the physical manifestation of my spiritual being. It is the flow of energy through paint onto a two dimensional canvas projecting three dimensional energy. I endeavor to convey a vital energy through sight with color and design. My inspirational and mainstream artwork can be placed in areas of the home and office to create an environment with balance, harmony and a flow of energy which enriches the viewer. I believe that in our world today with cement cities, sound pollution and isolated environments, it is difficult ...

Chris Quinlan - Splaying a half full palette knife lightly over the canvas, the layers begin to build and the impression composition starts to materialise. With the use of light colours, un-detailed strokes and dashes, I create an original vibrant image, using an original technique. I think, dream, see, I step outside my door and I am inspired to paint. I paint a simple message of positivism, neutrality and colour. I just paint the colours I wish to see. Past series of artworks i.e. floral still life, figurative abstract and mixed media, using various medium have evolved and created a practical foundation for my current technique and style. My much loved medium, oil paint, is applied in an alla prima technique, used by some of my favorite impressionists, Van Gogh, Monet and Sargent. I paint with a palette knife, this for me, limits the detail and extent of inaccuracy. Although a predominantly self taught artist, I have digested in-depth, many impressionism and contemporary art books, videos and other references, practiced and practiced more. I stand fast that my work solely represents and will always represent the neutral visual aspect in life. Each painting has unique characteristics that give meaning and ...

Farah Ravazadeh - If our eyes are the windows to our soul, then I think the visuals that our eyes capture enlighten our souls in some way. Each and every person has the ability to tap into their own sense of creativity, when we do this, it allows us to express the thoughts, emotions, dreams and wishes that cannot really be represented in words. Through the years, I have discovered that I feel my best when I am able to actively express these thoughts and feelings through visual art. My life, my mind, and my soul are a combination of what I put into my art....

Sabir Haque - Artist statements MY CANVAS IS THE MIRROR THAT LOOKS INSIDE MY INNER WORLD Pursuing the long winding trail of a humble artists career, I have had to sketch and draw many thing . Flora and fauna, animals and humans and also human habitations.I have always found that it is not an easy task to keep one self on the trail of creativity,it always amazes one how Nature has decorated herself with stones in particular. The balancing stone or hoodoos stir me deeply.I amaze and amaze at the artistry of nature to have balanced such great boulders, one upon the other. Become my obsession, I have fallen in love with stone. Thus stone has become a main subject in my paintings. When I see and touch them, I feel they have life, human shape and characters with their words, they are performing like actors sometimes my stones fly with the clouds, sometimes my stones floating in the water, my stones can love like couple, sometime do some other things. Imagination fantastical is ingrained in to us and we love to fantacise so we long for unattainable to attains. A bard adorns his ditty with the words beautiful and creates...

Caren Keyser - My expressionist paintings are done using an intuitive process. I begin with the paint and then allow the paint and my subconscious to lead me to the subject matter. Exciting interactions between colors evolve from brushwork, pouring, glazing, spraying and other techniques. I strive to show the essence of the subject rather than paint an overly realistic image. I never know what I will find next in my work. I hope it will be dramatic and emotional. Note that the paintings are not framed. ------------------------------------- I began painting professionally in 1977 after studying art at Florida Atlantic University. There I explored the many styles and techniques available to the acrylic painter. My first photo-realism style piece was created while attending FAU. I knew from that moment that realistic nature scenes would be my style of choice. This remained my theme and style until after 2005. As time has passed my work has changed and become more creative in its processes. Color is still the dominant feature in my work. As my focus has shifted toward expressionism I stored my realism pieces. The originals of many of them are still available for purchase and are included in my inventory here at ...

Beatrice Bedeur - Born in 1961 in Liege Belgium Painter and photographer. Awarded a diploma in photography and cinematography of the ICADI 1982. Preference for the non-conventional landscapes, customized and deconstructed. Interesting and very original work mixing Cubist decomposition, impressionistic lively touch and colors, close to the fauvism and to the Orphism. We could also speak about pointillism but only for the multitude of colored touches and graphs which Beatrice spreads on her painting. Taking inspiration from photographic cliches she realizes during her ballads in our countryside, she decomposes and stylizes then the image like an architect. This first graphic work is then enriched by multiple colored touches with oil paint giving to the final set, light, heat and harmony. The use of colors is fundamental for her and she likes using them in a vast ranges. The light is also essential vital, it represents the life and the well-being which Beatrice draws from her when she paints. Her favorite themes are of course the landscapes but she also gives way to the geometrical abstraction. Sometimes, the disintegrations disappear to let colored touches take off, but we always recognize the touch of the artist. At present, Beatrice BEDEUR works on drapes, ...

Alkistis Wechsler - Reality meets myths. Personal visual impressions of chosen English gardens ... lately also Mediterranean seaside, are coming together in imaginative collages and alchemic transformation. . Sensitive to the environment as well as to human interactions and expressions it all translates into visual myths . Not only travels between geographical points, but also a thirst for such trips in the mind through myths and readings of initiatic rituals of metamorphosis, infiltrated as well my art of painting. At the end, every archetype (for example Heliogabalus, Persephone and Artemis) and every movement reaches back to the source of rhythm and scales creating a personal mythology and so I understand my self and the world after each painting is done by a hypersensitive process and not a premeditated rational plan. The seasons or the elements and their rhythm are interwoven with my vision of human soul and the soul of the sea ...

Denise Seyhun - The glowing energy of waves and the foaming seas captivate my soul, and as a result my seascapes, waterfalls, and riverscapes bare witness to my love and admiration for the force and elegance of bodies of water. Main character in my oil paintings is water, which deeply fascinates me, not only as true beauty but also with its transparent colors reflecting in constant motion. As an artist my purpose is to accomplish the portrayal of the emotional tones and depths of shades of truth that are displayed in continuous movement. For this particular reason the unseen and untold dimensions that the undertones and the overtones of bodies of water allow me to experiment with a wide array of colors on my palette. Consequently, my goal is to never repeat myself in my artistic journey as I continue to play with many shades of reflections in water until I have compiled a finite collection of all shades of water....

Jan-Thomas Olund - Swedish painter living in Umea. My motives are varied from landscapes, still lifes to abstract minimalism. For the moment I work with a series abstract paintings oil on canvas and paper. My exhibitions have been mostly in Sweden. Sold in Sweden to private collectors and public institutions and in USA to private collectors. ...

Jan-Thomas Olund - Cathy Savels - Nature as art, in absolute detail. A never ending paradox that tears me from reality. Everything has a spirit, a voice that needs to be listened to. Creativity is my passion. This was the journey of my childhood, as I watched my father create wonderful furniture in wood and observed my mother sewing beautiful garments with fabrics. When I search for inspiration, I look over the vineyards surrounding my studio in south-west France and ideas engulf me. Dreams evolve into reality, midnight sketches become my driving force. Before my canvas, I see the world through a lens. I'm interested in what escapes me. ...

Nikolay Sivenkov - "My inspiration comes from nature, sea, wildlife, especially lizards and insects, environmental concern, also emotional expression and the exploration of LIFE, PEOPLE, astronomy, capturing the essence of time." The artist Sivenkov Nikolay The member of International Federation the Artists UNESCO....

Walther Von Krenner - Before I studied in Asia, Picasso and Gauguin had a great influence on my thinking. Later I admired the ideas and importance of Pollocks action painting. At this point in my journey Liu Kuo Sung, Chang Dai Chien, Fu Baoshi and Zao Wuki artists mostly unknown to the average Westener have had a great influence on my work. I am attempting to synthesize the style and spirit of their work into a new style with the same power, energy and feeling without copying their work or trying to repeat something that has been done already. ...

Mary Hatch - Mary Hatch has had a strong interest in art beginning painting and art classes when she was twelve, and visiting the Dallas Museum of Art, and A The Chicago Art Institute regularly made an impression on her style by seeing famous paintings.
