  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Vasco Kirov - For me painting is a way to convey to others what my inner reality looks like. I guess, that is what most artists are trying to do. This is why my paintings are mostly abstract. I access this inner reality with my eyes closed in quiet and relaxed state or in lucid dreams, which I am blessed to have from time to time. In this personal reality light and colour form structures with astonishing size and grandeur generating emotions and strong desire to share the experience. Sharing however is not easy. It is like to listen to the most amazing music and then try to talk about it. I am not sure that I will ever be able to express these experiences in full, but every painting brings me a bit closer....

Temo Svirely - Painting is not conceptual art. When someone looks at one of my paintings and asks me What did you want to say I find myself in a difficult position. That is, I've already said what I wanted to say through the medium of painting. With the help of color, rhythm and so on and to demand that I translate the language of art into the language of words is impossible, to say the least. I am an artist, not a writer , my materials are oil-paints, ink, pencils and so on, and not words. What else can I say Ideas and concepts are far from being the primary concerns of the artist. Enthusiasm for ideas not to be confused with artistic plans or intentions distracts the artist from the wealth of interrelation with the material, which itself dictates to him the right course and rewards with time and patience. Of course it is worth pondering on how to make a work more expressive, but a real artistic moment occurs when a pause arises in between thoughts. I will take the liberty of reminding you that art, a picture, can be understood by a man and influence him deeply, effortlessly ...

Terri Cabral - Artists Statement I am a painter of people, animals and the natural world. I strive in my painting to reveal the unique essence of each of my subjects through the distillation of light and color into recognizable form and substance. I continue to be greatly influenced by my uncle, Cuban Vanguardia painter Antonio Gattorno. He was known for his versatility and his ability to paint masterfully in a variety of styles. I am constantly experimenting with styles and developing my sense of versatility. ...

Walther Von Krenner - Before I studied in Asia, Picasso and Gauguin had a great influence on my thinking. Later I admired the ideas and importance of Pollocks action painting. At this point in my journey Liu Kuo Sung, Chang Dai Chien, Fu Baoshi and Zao Wuki artists mostly unknown to the average Westener have had a great influence on my work. I am attempting to synthesize the style and spirit of their work into a new style with the same power, energy and feeling without copying their work or trying to repeat something that has been done already. ...

Oscar Pedreros - As an artist I produce concepts, associations and links related to the new informalism, conceptualism and experimental art. Social analysis and criticism, current cultural and local elements, symbols and chronicles, makes abstraction even more abstract. Most of my work represents my reaction to the chaos in which we find ourselves, both global and personal, from the view point of a Colombian, from a society where this has been an everyday reality over many years, but who has the perspective of having lived, studied and worked in North America and the Far East. As such, my art resonates, graphically and emotionally, with recent events Bataclan,Paris-Orlando,Florida which have brought this reality home to us. Most of my work questions the actuality of the world we live in, and are forced to accept, with its chaos, violence, corruption power-structures, power-seeking, wars, extremes of wealth and poverty, famines and excessive consumption, egocentricity and generosity, hatreds and loves, and its prejudices and openness it also questions what the future has store for us, if any future there be. Paintings, sculptures, photography, installations and assemblages show a close relationship with my personal, architectural and urban experience. I use industrial paint, raw ...
