Artists Describing Their Art:

Marino Chanlatte - I started painting a long time before I realized it was my passion, and that I would be a painter. I felt the inner need to express through painting, in a freely and spontaneous way, my feelings, thoughts, ideas and fantasies that appeared as visions ... I use color, texture, shapes, light, and shadows to express myself. If my work communicates any emotion or feeling to the viewer, then I accomplished my purpose....

Ju Yun - My work shows rich layers of colors. Inside the visual space of the picture, the line can exist absolutely as its own epitome. To prove the identity of my objects, I invite a void into the visual space. Inside the empty space the objects stop or pass; they struggle with each other or become engulfed in themselves; they boast or dally; they reach for the top or fade away. I place an emphasis on natural and eloquent simplicity that dominates traditional Korean art forms. At the same time, my idiosyncratic approach and nod towards western formalism is also entirely modern in tone. Also, I create movement through conscious and deliberate color choices. My selection of subject matter is inspired by distinctive shapes and colors in nature. I paint all the brilliance and beauty found in nature and establishes a sense of movement. An awareness of abstract design along with bright and bold colors is a part of this process....

Milutin Obradovic - The persistence of time and an endless search for the explanation of transience through themes, i.e. a way called life, or searching for the essence is the top or the bottom of the same idea, message, sign, or manaEURtms fear to put it all under oneaEURtms skin and breathe with it. Art and its unfathomable distance decorated with colours, movements or tones are a way of putting a burden of subconscious questions and incomplete answers on oneaEURtms back. Answers which will only in the future find themselves in the box storing the primordial findings on purpose. My paintings of horses are mysterious and they entice you into starting the dance of fire and ice. They are in an eternal impulse which is closer to coming back than leaving. They will never lie to the observer, or try to take him/her where they have already been and where he/she used to meet them. The horses will always take them to the unfamiliar places full of hope and endless existence. They are perpetual and always self-sufficient. My art and my search for the essence we call life is actually a burden on the back of...

Peter Sukosd - The feelings I illustrate on the canvas can vary on the scale of the moods, by reaching the peak point of them and then sliding down gradually to the depression and emotional deepness itself. This conflict and contradict that I always try to visualize on my paintings, that shows that every feeling is a mixture of its opposite, and thus you can never find reconciliation in them, you can just accept their existence as they are. This acquisence and reconciliation to this fact makes my paintings that solid every time, after illustrating all the possible limits of the human emotions in one circle, limiting it to the canvas itself I am painting to. Finally as related to the methods I paint let me just say that I am only the tool of the feelings I want to highlight and the painting is the best way for me to do it, consequently I play only a minor role in the whole process, where the impressions take the main role....

John Gamache - If I come across something of interest that will be a focal point for me to build on, that excites my passion for elements of the pastaEUR"old, cast-off objects,aEUR"run down barns, old junk cars, and abandoned houses. These are the objects I collect and infuse with new life through my paintings. When I create such a piece, I wish to convey the emotions I feel for the scene or objects to the viewer. I want the viewer to be an active participant in my joy, melancholy, humor, nostalgia. Through my textures, layers, earth-tones, and choice of images, I strive to convey these feelings. To me, the process of creating a work is transcendental I am completely lost in the making, I am part of each piece. It does take time to finish each painting as I work on several at once. Each painting is a slow build up of many layers to reach the final detailing. My goal is to create and master my craft, not just in the painting but in the feelings Ive described previously to the viewer. To elicit emotion will make the piece and my goal complete as a work of art. ...

Jose Eliezer Mikosz - My work follows a creative process that could be placed in the psychedelic-visionary realm of art, that is, work in which I seek to portray visions that arise from non-ordinary states of consciousness be it through meditation techniques, such as Kundalini Yoga and Rosicrucianism; pathologically, like the scintillating scotoma of the migraine aura I have been experiencing since I was 11 years old, and the use of psychoactive substances a^' similar to the sacred Amazonian Ayahuasca brew; but also spontaneously. After experiencing these non-ordinary states of consciousness I try to make some sketches so I will not forget the visions (like I do my dreams). Later, I put that on canvas and start working using a mixed technique that includes acrylic, egg tempera, and oil paint on colored glazes. This creative process is quite old. I have always been impressed by symbolist, surrealistic, psychedelic paintings, themes that are part of a world that is not the stuff of ordinary, everyday life, but which are instead part of this much larger and mysterious dimension of the human unconscious. My work seeks to communicate with this secret side of the human mind that is also potentially present in the observer; ...

Robert Pelles - As an award-winning practitioner of Hungarian commercial graphic art (a career he forsake after 20 years of owning his own successful design firm in order to commit himself solely to painting), Pelles understands and delights in using the idiom of abstract forms. His paintings tell stories about people. Even his houses-- memory scraps on Robert's' never-land landscapes -- come to vividly throbbing life in the absence of figurative forms. The conceptual quality of Pelles' art, his superior drawing skills, concordant use of color and structural harmony have made him one of the most sought-after Central European artists today. ...

Pramod Apet - My name is Pramod Apet and I believe myself to be a very expressive person. I realized it very early in my life that painting was something that made me happy. It was actually me and therefore wen I decided to take painting as a career, I joined Abhinavkala Mahavidyala in Pune which is where I learnt the basics of my profession. After that I joined the very well known J. J. School of Arts in Mumbai, where I was groomed and that was the time when I transformed into an Artist. I love to spread happiness with my paintings and believe that if we set a happy atmosphere around us, it can be done through beautiful paintings. In my works, one can generally find jolly, loving and happy kids. Specially, the Brahmin boys that were seen during the traditional educational system of our Indian people, i.e., Gurukul system, could be generally seen through my works. I have relied on using acrylic colors in my art forms which help me in depicting the various expressions of my subjects very effectively. With the help of these, I have been able to show the kids in various acts of life, showing ...

Franziska Turek - This painting is individual, without any compromise, it combinates the occurence with intuition. The pictures are intrinsic of a special magic, which is not intended or planned, its resulting out of the painting process. The organic impressioned spaces and worlds of this pictures lead to associations and they will contemplate the art of painting themselves, they open a fascinating spectrum of color, area, line, which combines to mythical compactness. ...

Valeria Latorre - Aqua Water is source of life and essential for survival, it is of major importance to all living things. My research is on the human perception of water in states which the eye canaEURtmt aEURoefully seeaEUR. Water doesnaEURtmt have just one shape but infinite, our vision of small quantities of water is transparent and stillaEUR| we recognize it through its physical qualities and light reflection, refraction, diffraction and scattering. Looking through water in movement, beautiful distorted images of reality can appear, which I try to aEURoefreezeaEUR with my camera at their most meaningful moment. Through the knowledge of basic scientific elements and using an artistic approach I try to analyze, understand and interpret the images which mostly represent the beauty and truth of the feeling I had at the moment of shootingaEUR| while water was dancing. The selected images then become my reference for the Aqua paintings series....
