  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Biser Panayotov - Biser Ivanov Panayotov's richly imaginative canvasses are filled with delicate but bold shapes and colors. The images evoke organisms, landscapes, and objects with their graceful curves and elaborate detail. The subtle tones of rich red and orange, watery blue and sunlight yellow indicate a fantasy world. His work is mystical, recalling experience rather than intellectually laden and symbolic, leaving the viewers free to compose their own meaning based on sensual interpretation. He concerns himself more with the interaction of different patterns than clearly definable foreground and background to create space and depth in his paintings. Panayotov was born and continues to live and work in Ruse, Bulgaria. He studied with the famous Ruse artist Kiril Stanchev. His first work was exhibited in a Youth Show in 1988 in Ruse and has continued to exhibit work consistently since. His paintings are in private collections across Europe, Canada and the United States ...

Beverly Furman - Welcome to my exhibit of works in various media and combinations of techniques that I have developed during 40-plus years of making images. My experience with Drawing, Printmaking, Painting: Oils, Acrylics and Watercolor, as well as Oil Pastel, Colored Pencil, Rubberstamping, Inkjet Transfer, Bookworks and Collage has given me a large visual vocabulary with which to express my particular interests and world-view. My work is a response to my immediate surroundings and life events. The effect of humans on Nature, or vice-versa fascinate me. The subject is sometimes less important to me than the visual and emotional impact of the image. Using the immediate and familiar, I seek to create something I have not seen before. Exploring an expanding variety of two-diminsional media has yielded and ever-widening means of expression. My work spans a range from'realism' to'abstract', with expressionist tendencies. Presently, I am interested in combining life experiences and art techniques into evocative images that express my evolving vision in new ways....

Lawrence Buttigieg - "My paintings are a balance of physical form and feeling. I penetrate the character of the person and focus on the inward reflective qualities. I slip my view of the subject between the layers of paint. I want my colours to be the colours of life, rendering likeness and personal stylisation inseparable. I am not concerned with the instantaneous image of the model but rather a prolonged record of his or her character."...

Jorge Arcos - "My art is an expression overflowing, of how I perceive the world. The pallet is usually colorful and with uncontrollable ways, that are merged into an incontrollable world of organic forms. Thanks to my Hispanic heritage, coming from a fully cultural rooted country, my work shows lively and energetic, strong and obsessive. Looking at a world, that it is full of nuances and changes, my focus comes from inner feeling about life. Trough a journey of learning path, my work conveys self-discovery and evolution, communicating to the viewer, my personal viewing and perception of the world around me; quieting mind, and carrying my ideals trough colors and shapes, eluding conformity and traditionalism". "I am an artist because I was born to be one. I couldn't live if I wasn't one. I am alive because I paint. It feeds my soul. My motive to paint is to live and to express every moment of my life and the simple fact of being alive". ...

Charles Gibbons - My current project "Organic Geometry." Organic Geometry is the mathematical extrapolation of the rymthic beat of music, plotted and captured in a moment of time. The relationships between Science & Music & Math & Art, and the translation of the relationship into visual art. Mathematics is the majestic structure conceived by man to grant him comprehension of the universe. It holds both the absolute and infinite, the understandable and the forever elusive. It has been said by Leibnitz that, music is a secret mathematical exercise. Music has these qualities, a rhythmic beat, musical notes in perfect harmony, and at the same time seemingly random beauty. Ironically so do Math and Science. The Art is the medium to share the relationships....

Rosemary Golcher - Rosemary Golcher graduated with honors from University of Costa Rica in 1995, majoring in Plastics Arts with painting emphasis. Besides this, she obtained a diploma in technical drawing in the same university. In 1996 she started working in "Museum S.A.", an art restauring company owned by Raul Aguilar. Since them she manages to combine art restauration works along with painting, digital photography, imprints and making glass works. She has taken vitral classes with professor Aldo Canales in University of Costa Rica, as well as art restauration in La Habana- Cuba, Firenze-Italy and in Costa Rica. In the year 2000 she enters artist Marcia Salas' workshop of engraving metal and wood until the year 2001. She has participated in several arts showcases of painting, engraving and drawing in Costa Rica, United States, Chile, Spain, Germany, Poland and Mexico. In 1996 she obtained mention of honor during the Vl Bienal Pfizer, tribute to costarican water painting. Actually she has her own workshop at home where she continues working on art restauration and making art. ...

R.c. Naso - The artists' purpose is to invent, to explore, and to experiment with new concepts, and to open new avenues of expression for the next generation of artists to explore. Just as all the important artists of the past opened new avenues of expression to explore for all who were yet to come. With this concept in mind I approach my work... ...

Louise Weinberg - Louise Weinberg - Artists Statement My work focuses on the issue of containment - the human desire for the safety of enclosure and structure vs. the terror of possible entrapment. My abstract paintings depict an array of containers- grids, buildings, eggs, spheres, circles, squares and cubes. They suggest that a container can protect, imprison or both. In my Spheres Emerging Series, I paint spheres, which are also containers, but the spheres now appear to be free, no longer held down, nor struggling to burst out. These paintings are concerned with the notion of form developing within a space. The spheres are ambiguous -at once huge or molecular. The space that surrounds the form is ambiguous as well -sometimes deep, sometimes shallow. Painting for me is a slow gradual emergence of form into space. Using palette knives, nails, combs, rags -I push, pull, dig and scrape - searching for layers underneath as I continue to add more paint on top of older layers. This way of working always allows me to make surprising discoveries, which I find to be an essential part of the painting process. My paintings emerge gradually and only after much struggle, not unlike the way a person's sense of ...
