  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Dimitri Lazaroff - Like most artists, I work with non-verbal medium - drawing, painting, sculpture etc. - that attempt to convey things which cannot be even remotely described in words. And thats the trouble when being asked to write an artists statement. How one explains that heshe is trying to communicate the unexplainable, things that transcend verbalizing, aspects of existence or glimpses into certain conditions, the occasional insights Artists statements are not really feasible and are bound to be misleading....

Tyrone Neuland - My paintings follow very much in the long established tradition of the Expressionists, using intensity of color and gestural brushstrokes to portray the intensity of feeling and emotion. While also attempting to find a balance between art and today's technology, I am integrating digital imagery into my pieces, using them as a tool to enhance subject matter. These paintings/drawings are developed from personal and emotional feelings that are sparked by the day-to-day experiences of a father, husband, employee, son and general spectator of the modern world. They are not formed as judgement statements but constructed out of a reactionary consciousness to the particular subject matter. The plan is to portray that secret level of honesty that is often misinterpreted as cynicism, by taking a specific person, place or thing and turning it into a thought provoking generality in which the viewer can use their own lives to draw a conclusion....

Steven Fleit - I am a self taught artist. I have been painting for over twenty years and approximately four years ago I declared myself an Artist in the professional sense. Prior to my declaration as an artist, I built a portfolio of thematic collections. I started with Caribbean tropical paintings. I have expanded my subject matter to, Vineyard, architectural reflection, and travel sight e.g. Venice Series paintings. When I felt that I had put together a substative portfolio, I identified as an artist. I am serious about my craft and I hope you enjoy viewing my work. Thank you....

Caren Keyser - My expressionist paintings are done using an intuitive process. I begin with the paint and then allow the paint and my subconscious to lead me to the subject matter. Exciting interactions between colors evolve from brushwork, pouring, glazing, spraying and other techniques. I strive to show the essence of the subject rather than paint an overly realistic image. I never know what I will find next in my work. I hope it will be dramatic and emotional. Note that the paintings are not framed. ------------------------------------- I began painting professionally in 1977 after studying art at Florida Atlantic University. There I explored the many styles and techniques available to the acrylic painter. My first photo-realism style piece was created while attending FAU. I knew from that moment that realistic nature scenes would be my style of choice. This remained my theme and style until after 2005. As time has passed my work has changed and become more creative in its processes. Color is still the dominant feature in my work. As my focus has shifted toward expressionism I stored my realism pieces. The originals of many of them are still available for purchase and are included in my inventory here at ...

Reiner Makarowski - I don't like the usage of " uploading the importance and the meaning of artworks by words". I don't like it at all ... and I'm committed not to take place in this marketing game. The main influences of my work seem to be the so called classic modernism represented for example by works of Kandinsky, Klee, Braques a.o. Other influences come from many contemporary painters , for example guys who prefer the so called "lyrical expressionism". And of course I'm on the road to find and establish "my style". ...

Alessandro Andreuccetti - I was born in San Gimignano, Italy, in 1955. I studied art and architecture in Florence attending the Academy of Fine Arts, and I started my job in 1980 as a graphic designer while continuing my research in artistic painting. Through my work I try to analyze and represent the life that surrounds me or pass me by, just brushing . My favorite subjects are human figures immersed in their world, educated , that is, in poses and attitudes that identify the mood and suggest their personality. What interests me most is to discover the relationships between shapes and colors that are evident from the careful observation of reality and this is expressed in a strictly personal representation of the object. Through the filter of my work observers can therefore grasp the point of view of my own , but they are also free to interpret the subject as they please , so participate in the re-creation of the work perfect. Ultimately with my colors , my drawings , the shapes that I paint I suggest a possible interpretation of reality, mine, but the case remains open to the infinite possibilities of the personal experience of each. The ideas Each painting has its own history ...

Jo Allebach - JO ANN ALLEBACH ARTIST STATEMENT Jo Allebach Bio As an artist, I strive to create art that is a unique expression of who I am, and what I know and love. My art is my passion. The challenging aspect of painting is taking a familiar scene and creating my own personal vision of it. I have a sense of awe in everything around me, finding it absolutely enchanting and seek to show it in my work. I feel nature is our greatest teacher I consider my paintings to be celebrations on canvas. I hope my art will resonate in the observers' memory so that the process of recollection becomes a dialogue with the image. They are a tribute to the beautiful world in which we live. Through my unique works of art, I bring joy to the homes and lives of collectors all over the country. I create art to bring home the memories of what I saw. Not a picture duplicating what I saw but the memories evoked by what I saw. Over the years I have created a visual memory for the landscape. In my painting I just mentally hiked the scene, creating rocks and trees, hills and ...

Pedro Martin De Clet - Born: Brooklyn; New York. Raised:New Haven; Connecticut. "I am completely self-taught. & although I work in all mediums, I consider myself first & foremost a Painter. My subject matter is everything having to do with life. Love, hate, joy, fear, pain, happiness, sorrow, & everything in between. I Paint what others can't or won't. I believe that ideas are only as good as the content that embodies them. I Paint the truth. I have no time to waste. Neither the viewers, nor mine. I leave that to the pretenders & posers, content on ideas without substance & clean hands. Painting should be as real as the Paint on the canvas, or piece of paper; or what have you. I do not mean that it has to be figurative, but that it should carry the weight & conviction of a soul. Then if it is any good, the viewer will either love it, or hate it. & this is what I am after." pedro ...

Iana Sophia - In my work I strive to create a fusion of traditional and experimental, figurative and abstract visions to arrive at a texture, an implication of a landscape, where the familiar dissolves into mostly impressionistic colour fields or configurations with physical, emotional or even cosmic ramifications. Iana Sophias art pulsates between the seen and envisioned, the figurative and abstract. Inspired by a mystical sensitivity and an appreciation of nature, these paintings draw the viewer into a place of contemplation, where the secrets of the work begin to unfold.A(c) DLS ...

Steve Hunsicker - All the components of my work: the centerpiece, box and frame are constructed entirely of wood. The centerpiece of the sculpture is usually a simple form inspired by animal forms, nature or religious and spiritual symbolisms. The centerpiece is carved wood finished with a number of different mediums. Usually I use acrylic paint, stains, powdered metals, coral, nails, stone, copper and iron wire and other materials. Acids are combined with the powdered metals to create various finishes. Often the centerpiece is mounted in a shadow box or on a three dimensional display. The frame is usually finished using powdered metal that is then oxidized. Sometimes I am asked how long does it take for me to create one of my pieces? The answer I give might be a few days, a year or perhaps hours. For me the creation of a work of art is not limited to the time it takes to create the physical piece. The process of creation is a manifestation of a personOs life experience. Often the process is a search, a search for something mystical, sacred, mysterious and personal. The search is what is most important and is continuous. The time from the point ...

Chi Harkrader - Artist Statement A canvas, sculpture, or new media presents a stage for me to examine the visually driven attributes of light, perspective, color, form, and movement. Past experiences, present environment, imagination, and experimentation with mixed media allow me to echo my passions, peace, or pleasure. Expression from impressions encountered in urban, rural, or figurative life evolve. Form and color are fashioned from the physical, mental, or spiritual. Red and black may stir energy or passion. Ochre or sienna may prompt an affection of earth or rock. I draw, painting, sculpt or video with paint, found objects or software. Three-dimensional interior or exterior attachments are sometimes explored. My new work may shadow my previous series and motifs, as I strive for that elusive originality. My exploratory nature for diversity keeps me moving in and out of my compound-ongoing series (Action / Onyx / Lyric / Urban / Corolla). Sculpture and video now parallel my inventive journey. Linda Paul - Artists Statement" When asked 'What is your favorite painting', I always say, 'the next one I am going to paint!" Style: I don't paint in any one style, I let inspiration speak to me and I go with the flow. My work runs the gamut from chunky realism to abstract and impressionist painting. I use many different mediums to create my artworks. One of my favorites is egg tempera which I make by crushing stones and minerals and adding egg yolk. Blues come from crushed lapis lazuli, greens from malachite and natural green earth found around Verona Italy. I even use minerals found during hikes in the Rocky Mountains. I am captivated not only by the purity and naturalness of this medium, but by the science of it. Each pigment has its own set of properties and capabilities that must be explored. How better to express visions of the earth than with earth itself. This medium is luminous and lasts for centuries. also make my own acrylic paint in the same manner. By adding pure pigment to a acrylic polymer. I can add thing like crushed mica and pearlescents to make the painting come alive. Lately I have also ...
