  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Cedric Colond - "A love of nature and inner spirituality has been an ongoing inspiration for my artwork. Each painting captures the essence of the subject, balancing exquisite detail and a focus on light. Based upon realism yet drawing upon a luminscent dream-like quality, it is a truly original interpretation of the natural world. The wildlife studies have explored expressive animal gestures in their natural habitats. I am hoping to raise awareness of the beauty and fragility of the earth and build support towards ensuring its survival for future generations" ...

Lisa Reinke - Recognize yourself, someone, everyone and no one in my faces - celebrate color in the shape of a nose, the curve of the ears, the mask of the eyes, and the lines of the lips and hair. Most of all remember the humanity in humanity. The human face inspires me. As humans, we respond to its image beyond all others. For all its familiarity, we rarely pause to consider the face as a visual form, something more than the recognition of a friend or an interaction with a stranger. I paint the face in ways to cause the viewer to reconsider its splendor and renew faith in all things human. Colors and sunlight playing across faces remind me of our connection to the universe and symbolize eternal and fleeting moments simultaneously. I love how we recognize and explore human faces for clues to identity and personality. I am happy to be creating my work and hope that my art inspires you to look around and see the world as a vibrant and exciting place where the most amazing patterns are on display all the time. Lisa Reinke ...

Ellen E Hinson - My love of nature and the world we live in is demonstrated by the works of art that I paint. I use oils and watercolor and also love photography. I have been painting for many years, have taken various art instruction courses, but my training is mostly self-taught. I love to paint realistic animals and landscapes, but once in a while I will deviate to the whimsical painting....

Ellen E Hinson - Heather Hickey - The cursor is blinking, staring at me wanting answers, words that I don't have. What do I say to it, to you. Art to me is an outlet of thoughts, joys, worries. I work at night, listening to music and crawling inside of what I draw. I don't think about it I just do it. Sometimes I don't recognize it the next morning like a random passing thought. What was I thinking? I don't know but it must have been weird. I have never taking an art class, I just draw to settle my mind, to let energy out and to feel connected to apart of the world beyond physical things. I hope to make new friends, to meet people who feel as passionate about drawing as I do. Please let me hear from you. Thnx, ...

Aurelio Zerla - Aurelio Zerla has been painting for many years. He learned oil painting from his art teacher in middle school in his native Italy, in beautiful medieval Spoleto. In his paintings he expresses his love for color mainly through depictions of scenes from Italy, fantasy dreamy landscapes and some abstract works. His inspiration ranges from the Italian renaissance to Impressionism, to modern Italian art....

Dana Zivanovits - Dana Zivanovits was born in 1958 in Columbus, Ohio and received his art training from the Columbus College of Art and Design (1978 to 1982). After art school, he went abroad for a year and studied the art of the old masters in London, Paris, Madrid, Rome and Venice. Returning to his studio in Columbus to develop these influences into a new body of work, he then traveled to Mexico and studied the sculpture and painting of that country for an extended period. The unique and vivid colors of Palenque and Vera Cruz intensified his palette. After a period in Ohio, he then moved to Venice Beach, California where the brilliant light of the region reinforced his desire to capture effects of sunlight and atmosphere. Returning to Ohio in 1995, he has continued to paint themes deriving inspiration form sources such as world mythology, classic and B-grade cinema, literature and dreams. However his primary inspiration is direct observation from nature, versus an approach based in art theories or cultural critique. Dana has been widely represented by galleries and exhibition projects including Julie Rico and Mega Boom in Los Angeles, the Venice Art Detour, Around the Coyote Festival in Chicago ...

William Alexander - Emotional energy turns thought into image. Instinctual movements of the hand facilitate the emotion reflected in the resulting symphony of color, texture and composition. Each layer represents a moment of effortless decision. My art is a living, evolving entity, changing throughout its development on the canvas. I have always been moved by work that is fresh and immediate, never final but new with each viewing and I aim to create work that evokes a similar response. I want the viewer to feel the same intensity as I did while creating the image. A successful image will draw forth various feelings such as peace, joy, uncertainty, vulnerability, fear, confusion, etc. Each paint layer, shape or stroke of color should have the potential to evoke any of these responses....

Jamnea Jacas - Cuban born artist resident of Palm Beach County, Florida. Jamnea knew at an early age she would pursue the life of an artist. She currently works in her prefered medium: oil paints. Her paintings are often abstractions of personal thoughts and feelings. Jamnea's self expressive application of paint creates a non-representational and almost abysmal composition possesing movement and drama....

Daya Bonnie Astor - Summer 2009 Venezia- I am exploring movement. This is a play on words of "women's movement". I examine legs as a symbol of women moving forward to a goal. Legs can dance, walk, take steps (physical and mental); legs move in space. I am using mixed media (fabrics, canvas, paper, paints). The body of work is title "La Gambe che Supports" (the leg which supports). My series of fourteen works shows legs not interacting with any artifacts which would describe place, home or activity, besides movement. I sue color and texture to show variations and emotions within the legs. Another level of complexity for my artwork is site specific: Venice is fragile. Venice is a pedestrian city. Everyone walks, moves on fragile land. Workers commute to the lagoon, even the indigent and street vendors commute to select places to interact with the tourists. Since the ground is uneven here, one must pay attention to stones, concrete and the elements which make up our pedestrian surface. One must also pay attention to our support, our legs. Legs have expression, perhaps not as refined as hands and arms, and one can red expressions in legs. My subjects, women, walk through unifying ...

Maryjean Galivan - Over the years my art has evolved into a personal introspective search. The constant denominator is a strong sense of color, though the subject matter can range from whimsical to disturbing. I feel my inspiration stems from a past saturated with LSD and a present filled with ADD. The combination of these two ingrediants as well as my jaded perception of life are the fulcrum of my creative energy. Since I have lived in Arizona for the last 20 something years, I am inspired by the colors and textures of the desert. For the last year I have been incorporating them into my work. ...
