  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Randy Sprout - I grew up in a small town in Northern Iowa, played football, coached the swimming team, and graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA in printmaking studying under Mauricio Lasansky. I then went into the Army and ended up pulling 13 months in Korea on the DMZ. Coming out of Korea I entered UCLA and earned a MA and MFA in printmaking while studying under Jan Stussy and Stanton Mac-Donald Wright. The next year after the funds dried up on my Fulbright Award to Portugal, because of the Angola War, I was lucky to get hired by USC where I taught printmaking as a junior faculty member. I also replaced professors at UCLA when they went on sabaticals, and taught one year at Pierce College. In 1977 I tried Real Estate, you know just for the summer, but by fall I had purchased Century 21 Hollywood Inc. and had a new vocation going. Now 31 years into real estate, I'm coming full circle and starting to paint little quick studies 9X12. I'm using just 1/2 inch brushes and 5 colors. I intentionally limit my time to 2 hours after which I stop and throw ...

Wojtek Kowalski - I am a self-taught person. ... My paintings rise from an internal need. I find inspiration in peace and quiet , by observing nature and people. My works show my own vision of the world. By using colours and simple forms I convey feelings and emotions as well as dreams and fantasies. Ideas spring to my mind when nothing happens around me. I am guided by my own sense of beauty and aesthetics. ...

Wojtek Kowalski - Hampton Olfus Jr - Art for me is a journey, of a life force expressing it's self through the human experience. Each artist has a vision or personal statement for their artistic journey. My artistic vision, is to be as true,to those who love art, as I I'm to my artistic self. I attempt to transfer the energy of discovery, from the studio to the exhibit space. And I also would like to make the gallery owners happy without the art work becoming, predictable. Too acquire the artistic wisdom of the masters, and remain as fearless as a child, with a box of crayons staring at a blank wall. ...

Robert Tittle - I like to experiment with different surfaces, such as painting on burlap, I like the challenge of painting clean edges on the rough, bumpy and fuzzy surface. My creations have led some viewers to described them as having characteristics of romanticism. My desire is to stimulate emotions and imaginations, to invoke curiosity in the viewer and create a feeling of being there in the location the painting depicts. I hope my paintings reveal my spiritual character, my faith in God, and the beauty of nature. I have been taught, when an artist puts creativity and spirituality into a painting, they will then have something to leave to the world. ...

Charles Hanson - Charles Hanson Drawing and Painting since childhood, While in High School participated in a mural project at the United Nations. Participated in shows in New York, New Jersey, California, Kentucky and Pennsylvania. Had pieces in the Crocker Museum in Sacramento California, General Motors in Kentucky, Hunterton Art Museum in New Jersey, Allentown Art Museum and the State Theater in Pennsylvania. I actively participate in drawing and painting sessions with Lafayette College Easton Pa. I also organize a painting session on a monthly basis for an Arts Society that I am a board member of....

Charles Hanson - John R Chatterton - 'Singers of Songs & Makers of Musics' -...is his series of unique pen & ink drawings portraying the many faces, sometimes through the changing years, of various musicians & singers who have influenced & inspired so many ... ...the majority of these drawings are done using a'stippling' or'pointillism' technique; thousands of ink dots creating a sense of depth and realism. Many also incorporate the words of songs providing the depth and tone of the portrait in a highly original manner. Using commercially available drawing pens, this method, whilst infinitely rewarding, requires extreme patience and discipline! A recent venture into the use of acrylics to create larger media related works has proven to be immensely popular & John's take on the popularity of so-called'pop art' or'icon art' is to add enough detail, depth & quality of feeling to effect a move away from mass produced images, creating something truly original! It is this area of painting which currently constitutes the bulk of his work, at times defining shape in monotone, to produce an image that is instantly recognisable, primarily in portraits, is an immense challenge, but has proved popular with everyone who views the results....

Sanjoy Rakshit - Nature is the almost topmost creators. And change is the nature of low. There changing are going on time to time, with the through every moment of step. Which moment is present, that will be past, after will be began new present time, with the new provisional. That feels need to sixth sense. In live to think, all kind of creativity are impressed with this. In huge moment, feels are lots of together, here ability of catching minimum, and this is depend on which is only in our in previous knowledge. My just as series is, spontaneous reflect of inner feelings & sense, which depend on timing .There can be something reality of present -past. Here appearance may would be supernatural atmosphere. There Lines & color able to reflect their own images , & language. So "Just As" trying to judge and define, the rhythmic flow & harmony of present sense, extraordinarily. THANKS. Rakshit ...

John Douglas - John Douglas is an Australian multi-media artist whose painting exhibitions have received acclaim and caused controversy both in his home country and internationally. He began painting at the age of 8, and studied at the Queensland College of Art until his expulsion in 1984 for being a "disruptive and disturbing influence", after which his career really took off. His photography encompasses a broad spectrum of styles and themes, including publications in Thailand, Denmark, Sweden, United Arab Emirates, China, Qatar, Australia and Japan. John Douglas currently has his short film "Painting Air" in a solo web exhibit for The Istanbul Museum of Contemporary Art. ...

Cathy Savels - Nature as art, in absolute detail. A never ending paradox that tears me from reality. Everything has a spirit, a voice that needs to be listened to. Creativity is my passion. This was the journey of my childhood, as I watched my father create wonderful furniture in wood and observed my mother sewing beautiful garments with fabrics. When I search for inspiration, I look over the vineyards surrounding my studio in south-west France and ideas engulf me. Dreams evolve into reality, midnight sketches become my driving force. Before my canvas, I see the world through a lens. I'm interested in what escapes me. ...
