  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Rachel Gillen - My artwork is a reflection of how I feel about my life and the experiences that have shaped it thus far. It is largely about the people who have come in and out of my life, the ones who are still around and the ones who aren't, and all the memories I've made and am still making. I strive for my work to be an honest interpretation of my day-to-day life. My work is oil on canvas and varies largely in size and subject matter. I focus mostly on abstracting from realistic elements I am familiar with, using Photoshop as a tool for formulating my ideas into images that will serve as the basis for my paintings. ...

Krishnaraju Subramaniam - Painting is not just a means of self expressions it is more importantly a mode of communicating emotions and ideas; and by so exposing the viewer, eliciting similar responses in him. It is this conviction that prodded me, into the world of colours. My works are an invitation to the viewer to accompany me on a metaphysical journey to explore the truth of being, a pathless journey stretching the limits of human thought. An amateur, self-taught painter, my experiments with colours began in 1985 while I was studying engineering and was largely inspired the study of philosophy. Painting became an essential part of my spiritual quest. My paintings display a range of philosophical and spiritual themes. While most of the works display the ideas of Zen, Greek, Tao and Indian philosophy, others try to recreate a mystical experience for the viewer. The use of symbols is prominent in my portrayal of highly evolved notions. I do not believe in making them too abstract as my main aim is to reach out to the people. This compels me to resort to a unique style of representationalism. Being a relentless seeker, my quest is a quest for meaning and a style ...

Krishnaraju Subramaniam - Jo Allebach - JO ANN ALLEBACH ARTIST STATEMENT Jo Allebach Bio As an artist, I strive to create art that is a unique expression of who I am, and what I know and love. My art is my passion. The challenging aspect of painting is taking a familiar scene and creating my own personal vision of it. I have a sense of awe in everything around me, finding it absolutely enchanting and seek to show it in my work. I feel nature is our greatest teacher I consider my paintings to be celebrations on canvas. I hope my art will resonate in the observers' memory so that the process of recollection becomes a dialogue with the image. They are a tribute to the beautiful world in which we live. Through my unique works of art, I bring joy to the homes and lives of collectors all over the country. I create art to bring home the memories of what I saw. Not a picture duplicating what I saw but the memories evoked by what I saw. Over the years I have created a visual memory for the landscape. In my painting I just mentally hiked the scene, creating rocks and trees, hills and ...

Gitte Moller - Gitte Moller, artist and photographer, born in Copenhagen, Denmark. Has lived in Australia, Hong Kong and London. Since 1982 resides in Ecuador. I work in oils, acrylics and photography, experimenting with colours and techniques as well as different surfaces, such as hand-made paper, black & white photos, textured acrylic gesso, cotton thread, paper mache, and of course, canvas. My inspiration comes from life itself, whether it be the pattern on a butterfly's wing, a colour, the movement of water, the expression of a face, a mood or emotion, Chinese calligraphy, science and beliefs, a thought or a poem, etc, etc..... ...

Richard Wynne - Richard is an acclaimed International Artist recently returned to the USA. Richard has lived in many Countries. "The last being Thailland. He started his art studies at a very young age at the John Herron Art Institute In Indianapolis, Indiana and then later at the Art Institute of Chicago Richard has lived in many countries, painting, and playing music. Mr Wynne has exhibited in Thailand, the United States, Spain, Argentina, Kuwait, Korea, Ihdia, and other Countries. Sometimes perhaps I say too much about my self but maybe it helps people understand what motivates my work. For your information I've lived in 8 different countries and have been around the world 5 times. I speak a few different languages, some very well; others not so well. By the way I am not a workaholic as I don't consider what I do work. I enjoy life too much. I forgot to say I am also a weight lifter as lifting weights is my Zen. When I am troubled the concentration it takes to lift makes me calm. I guess my page will probably be a little different from what people expect. Sorry I have not been uploading new work as ...

Greg Gierlowski - Light has always played important role in my creations. Light comming through translucent artwork interests me and fascinates me the most. Therefore I turned into glass and started to experiment with translucent creations. My admiration for Art Nouveau artists that had created a lot of beautiful everyday-use objects of art resulted in creation of applied arts' objects such as art-lamps. When one has backlight at ones disposal, there's whole new field of artistic expresion - not only on one front surface of glass panel but on two, or even four or more, when two or three layers of glass can be used as a kind of sandwich that builds deeper into artwork for 3D effects. That's what I'm working on now and what's seems to attract international viewers & art-critics more and more now-a-days, to the point of of achieving latest awards and honours ( mainly from Italy....

Jeffrey Dickinson - My work revolves around the figure. Most is drawn directly from a model in a studio setting. Although that sounds simple anyone who has attempted it knows it takes years of practice and effort to produce something worthwhile. I am constantly working towards improving my drawing skills. A few years ago I began doing quick watercolors over my pencil drawings. I like the spontaneity and immediacy achieved in this way. I also paint in oils and acrylics. These paintings are much more planned out and carefully executed. Although the subject matter is often surreal or narrative they still have as there basis a realistically drawn figure. ...
