  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Rute Santos - Love to create a new thing, something that born from my mind in a vision only i can see. Love to share it with all. creating is a need that all artists have, like if we need to speak out. Hope you like my work. it comes out naturally....

Vanessa Bernal - Artist's statement: My earliest childhood memories are those of painting with my grandfather and frequently visiting the Art Institute of Chicago where we would spend countless hours together. He taught me that everything we come in contact with has the potential of becoming a work of art. My grandfather and I would take walks together to hunt for "treasures" of discarded objects that later he would turn into beautiful collages and assemblages. It is those lessons I carry with me and -today- in my work I see his influence. I have never been comfortable with expressing myself verbally. I am not one to strike up a conversation with a stranger, nor do I feel comfortable speaking to a group of people. Visual expression comes naturally to me; it is through this means I can best communicate with others and feel the most comfortable. At a young age I became aware of the injustices being perpetrated in the world and was deeply disenchanted with the political process as a means of creating effective change in our global community. For me, becoming an artist was inevitable. Through the visual arts not only did I communicate my life's passions, my fears, ...

Krista Marlene - Veil; to conceal, hide, disguise, screen or obscure. Reveal; to make known, disclose, divulge. The themes explored in this collection are that of balance and clarity "a state of equilibrium; equality in amount, weight, value, or importance, as between two things or the parts of a thing the quality or condition of being clear; free from guilt or a charge of guilt; to rid of obstructions, entanglement or obstacles; open..." {I'm} inviting the viewer to step in and appreciate this perspective, and allow the viewer to look for deeper meanings. The process is a result of wood, color, paint, something to scrape with, water, design elements, idea, emotion, feeling, and an atmosphere coming together in a stream of consciousness composition that draws upon inspirations found in various everyday situations. I carefully use all these elements to create the story that wishes to be told. Each painting has it's own meaning, and as a collection they refer to each other. In a very similar way that people and the world communicate. The circle and the square symbols are repeated until they become an iconic theme that evokes an elegant, organic, meditative quality. The idea of duality in these two ...

Ellen Spencer - ARTIST'S STATEMENT Ellen Spencer is a well known artist and longtime environmental activist. Her work reflects her passion in the celebration of life, women's/children's health and its connection to our environment. Ellen is originally from the Boston area, but has been residing in the San Francisco bay area for the past ten years. She currently has her studio in Oakland, California. She has spent many years successfully exhibiting and selling her works throughout the United States and has received numerous awards. She is currently represented by 57th Street Gallery in Oakland, CA, ArtWorks in San Francisco, Artist Alley Gallery in San Francisco, Agora Gallery in New York and Marziart International Gallery in Hamburg, Germany. As an artist and an activist, my work represents the strength and unity inherent in the human spirit. These paintings are part of several different series about women, health and the environment. They celebrate what is possible when people come together as one. Each painting has a feeling of its own and is done in different mediums. The colors are vivid and rich reflecting the myriad ...

Kiran Soni Gupta - Kiran Soni Gupta's Statement as an Artist I believe that man's soul is the architect of history and that art is the manifestation of man's soul & reflection of human identity and art materialized the deepest strata of man's life. No art can fully express the hidden reality it is depicting and one must search beyond the lines, patterns, notes etc. Art is unbounded and recognizes no constraints. In modern era, art is playing a dominant role in bringing about social change transcending borders and minds. Art as such is the domain of the dialogue between civilizations and cultures; it can speak in loud and penetrating voice. Therefore, the pivot of dialogue is the society's artists and thinkers. The language of painting and many arts is expressive indeed by which an immediate relationship is established. Artists show us new ways to see familiar things, and how to interpret new situations and events through various kinds of visual shorthand. Art is most often seen as pleasing the eye- creating beauty. Yet the idea of beauty, like that of truth, has been most challenging in the present day era. If something moves you to an understanding somehow unreachable...

Richard Beckholt - My artwork is very unique.I have spent most of my life developing the language of my work and continue to process and refine the course I have chosen. I work very hard to bring all the drama in color and design that I can possibly muster while remaining true to my initial concepts.I will not allow myself to slip into the realm of decorative art for the sake of sales. My art is honest and straight from my heart. Those collecting my works sense the emotions expressed within the stark images....

Timea Farkas - All my art adheres to one basic rule: LOVE is the greatest ART above all. I am inspired by my positive emotions and fantasies. If my paintings can still the wiewer's mind and will provide peace and harmony to all by helping them to feel the divine presence of love in everything around us, I believe my work is not in vain. I hope you enjoy wiewing and look forward to receiving your comments in my guestbook. ...

Since then he continuously participate in group and individual art exhibitions. We can count 60 by now. Most of his works belong to private collections in Portugal, Germany, Swiss, Denmark, Belgium, France, USA. C. Pereira da Silva was invited by the Mayor of the city of Setubal to participate on the construction and painting of a giant mural to commemorate the 200Th year of the death of the great portuguese poet, Bocage. This work was exhibited in 2005. He also contributed, in 2007, with several illustrations to the hand writing version of the most important book ever written in portuguese language "Os Lusiadas" by Luis de Camoes, to the museum of the presidency of the Portuguese Republic. Dolphin Parade 2012: Painting 2 of the 20 Dolphins exhibited near the Dock of Fishermen- Setubal; International Surrealism Now (2012). ...

Carole Wilson - The inspiration for my images comes from meditation, dreams, and hypnogogic imagery; creating a healing, helpful presence wherever the art is placed is my goal. To that end, my intention is to create art that is visually stimulating, both overtly and on a subtle energetic level. As colors and shapes affect mood in powerful ways, I seek to evoke a joyful, uplifting response in the viewer. There is an underlying pure and positive force that can be expressed through the visual medium of painting, that is at once mysterious and yet accessible to human consciousness. Channeling this energy through paint and canvas is the purpose behind my work....
