  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Giulio Baistrocchi - my work deal with the microcosmos ans macrocosmos. The microcosmos is my subconsciousness, free from rational selfish arrogance. The macrosmos is wild nature, and not the trimmed humanised and rationalised nature. I use the amazon as a symbol of a flamboyant, exuberant yet fragile nature that overgrows everything almost like a green monster, eating and digesting everything. life and death, dance a syncopated samba, like man amd woman(or in ,my case passive man with active man) in a sexual frenzy. THis beautiful green monster is scary because we are afraid of loosing control, yet fragile because as soon as the forest is cultivated it get sterile after a few years. The micro and macro are linked, our obsession with rationaly is destroying ourselves and the amazon, destroying the amazon is the desire of rationality to destroy subconsciousness...

Sara Adrian - Iconic art, the symbols of alchemy and the mythology of culture has always held an interest for me. I use color and symbols combined with familiar imagery to talk about social issues and stereotypes. There are specific ideas that I present in my work, but I feel it's very important not to be too specific as I want the viewer to come to their own conclusions as to what my art is trying to say. My purpose is to make the viewer think about what they see and what they believe in, and create a dialogue. The media I use in painting is oil and acrylics mixed in with metallic substances, such as gold or aluminum leafing, iron oxide, or metallic tinted paint, combined with strong design and chroma. I want the work to react to the light changes in the environment, and be an active participant in the space. The strong color combined with the wood I prefer to paint on is to echo the medieval byzantine iconic painting of which I find much inspiration. It's important to me to combine aesthetic with content, and this is what I work to achieve. ...

Richard Beckholt - My artwork is very unique.I have spent most of my life developing the language of my work and continue to process and refine the course I have chosen. I work very hard to bring all the drama in color and design that I can possibly muster while remaining true to my initial concepts.I will not allow myself to slip into the realm of decorative art for the sake of sales. My art is honest and straight from my heart. Those collecting my works sense the emotions expressed within the stark images....

Lisa Reinke - Recognize yourself, someone, everyone and no one in my faces - celebrate color in the shape of a nose, the curve of the ears, the mask of the eyes, and the lines of the lips and hair. Most of all remember the humanity in humanity. The human face inspires me. As humans, we respond to its image beyond all others. For all its familiarity, we rarely pause to consider the face as a visual form, something more than the recognition of a friend or an interaction with a stranger. I paint the face in ways to cause the viewer to reconsider its splendor and renew faith in all things human. Colors and sunlight playing across faces remind me of our connection to the universe and symbolize eternal and fleeting moments simultaneously. I love how we recognize and explore human faces for clues to identity and personality. I am happy to be creating my work and hope that my art inspires you to look around and see the world as a vibrant and exciting place where the most amazing patterns are on display all the time. Lisa Reinke ...

Carole Wilson - The inspiration for my images comes from meditation, dreams, and hypnogogic imagery; creating a healing, helpful presence wherever the art is placed is my goal. To that end, my intention is to create art that is visually stimulating, both overtly and on a subtle energetic level. As colors and shapes affect mood in powerful ways, I seek to evoke a joyful, uplifting response in the viewer. There is an underlying pure and positive force that can be expressed through the visual medium of painting, that is at once mysterious and yet accessible to human consciousness. Channeling this energy through paint and canvas is the purpose behind my work....

Richard Wynne - Richard is an acclaimed International Artist recently returned to the USA. Richard has lived in many Countries. "The last being Thailland. He started his art studies at a very young age at the John Herron Art Institute In Indianapolis, Indiana and then later at the Art Institute of Chicago Richard has lived in many countries, painting, and playing music. Mr Wynne has exhibited in Thailand, the United States, Spain, Argentina, Kuwait, Korea, Ihdia, and other Countries. Sometimes perhaps I say too much about my self but maybe it helps people understand what motivates my work. For your information I've lived in 8 different countries and have been around the world 5 times. I speak a few different languages, some very well; others not so well. By the way I am not a workaholic as I don't consider what I do work. I enjoy life too much. I forgot to say I am also a weight lifter as lifting weights is my Zen. When I am troubled the concentration it takes to lift makes me calm. I guess my page will probably be a little different from what people expect. Sorry I have not been uploading new work as ...

Alberto Ruggieri - Ruggieri works in two main areas: as an advertising and editorial illustrator and a painter. For the last ten years his illustrations have been published regularly in most important Italian newspapers and magazines. Ruggieri also illustrates children's books and produces bespoke book covers for several leading publishing houses. His painting are mainly acrylic on canvas, other time mixed media or acrylic on paper; in the last years he use the computer also. Ruggieri's work has been highly commended in industry sponsored awards from all around the world for several years. ...

David Chang - Sharing My Artistic View By David K. Chang Art is an expression of the spirit that is not limited by time or space. Although artistic styles differ depending on the artist's background, rationales, interests, and feelings, the intent of all artwork is to guide audiences into a specific mood. Therefore, art arouses an echo between the audience and the artist. This echo can be one of excitement or agony, of humor or anger, of comfort or sadness, of oppression or complete release, or one of inexpressible description. Artists continue to explore their own finished work as well as to encourage audiences to gain a deeper understanding of that work. Excellent artwork often comes from self-examination. Even though an artist may believe he is developing and refining his style by intuition, this intuition is usually the artist's unrecognized expression of his reflection, which has embedded itself into his subconscious. My inspiration frequently comes from my reflection on and enjoyment of nature, from my loving it and studying it. The artwork that comes from this reflection can express the resolution of conflict between man and nature, or the connection between them. These ideas can be articulated in the freedom ...

Debra Lennox - My latest work explores the vibrant use of pure colors & composition to express an intangible, surreal quality of a place. Light, color and form combine to push the figurative subject into the realm of dreams, capturing a moment in between the frenzied pace of modern life, when time slows and we become open to other, magical and spiritual influences on our lives. I am a painter in many mediums * watercolor, acrylic, & oils, and collage. I live in Comptche, California, and travel often for inspiration. I use my architectural degree as a designer and draftsman on the Mendocino Coast. I am a member at the Artists' Co-op of Mendocino, where I sell original works, laser prints and art cards. My work can be viewed at dblennox.com or artgallerymendocino.com...

Paul Cairns - Most of the time my work is rooted in an exploration of structure, by nature and the landscapes of Northern Ireland where I grew up or Essex where I now live. Structurally the handling of the materials is very physical with the stretchers frequently becoming more sculptural or sculptures becoming painterly. Painting can sometimes be seen as passively hanging on the wall out of the way so to counter this viewpoint many of my works inhabit the space much more, from heavy relief to working fully in the round. Nature and landscape is never far away from my thoughts and being part of nature is what has enabled us to develop a sense of culture, so when I paint what may at first look like a conventional portrait, you will soon see that the sitter is a part of the landscape; they have had a hand in forming each other. ...

Jasmine Ronel - Woman, flower, abstraction Three pivotal images in my oeuvre entwined to form the statement I strive to put forth each time anew. I am a woman, I am a flower, I am an abstraction. These images constantly support and rely on one another. The abstract paintings are typified by a flower's architecture, the flower paintings are on the verge of abstraction, and the women's paintings sprout with stains. My mode of work includes the use of diverse and complex techniques, spanning a wide range of materials and media: photography, computer processing, printing spraying, high-gloss enamel paints, acrylics, glass paints, watercolors, oils, felt-tip pens and pencils. The canvas is processed in stages, via cumulated layers that maintain intricate interrelations of construction and destruction, mending and erasing. Whether the emerging image has ascribed value or not, the painting's true theme is in fact painting. The work transpires as a private outcome of the path towards that particular painting: the trail of its drippings, the mass of its strata and the depth of its insights....

Jerry Maloney - Contemporary artist Jerry Maloney, uses a realistic style that falls somewhere between Impressionism and Photo-realism which creates soothing yet vibrant images that are reminiscent of the Luminists school of painting.I have always been inspired by the beauty of light in nature. Painters such as Bierstadt, Church, and Inness have always been major influences in my art along with many of the Impressionists states the talented artist. These influences are readily apparent in the beautiful oil paintings of Florida Colorado and landscapes that fill the walls of his Spring Hill studio. Although landscapes and seascapes are the artists preferred subjects, he is equally proficient in portraiture, still life, caricature, graphic design digital or traditional and cartooning. Oil paint on canvas is the most common choice of medium for the artist closely followed by acrylic paint, pastel chalk, colored pencil and water color. Drawing and painting since childhood, this emerging artist received his formal training from the University of Michigans School of Art, Colorado Universitys Colorado Mountain College, St. Petersburg College, Florida State University where he received a Bachelors Degree in Studio Art and through numerous workshops conducted by many prominent artists. Since then he has continued to paint and ...

Tom Curtis - More information at the official Tom Curtis Website at www.tomcurtis.net Please feel free to contact me with comments or questions. I may not be prompt, but I WILL reply. My work involves an intuitive and energetic exploration of form, color, line and juxtaposition. This exploration involves ritualistic processes as well as scientific inquiry, chance and humor. I am particularly interested in the tensions developed within multiple levels of concurrently occurring natural systems, processes and how we are affected by them. This especially includes patterns found in erosion and growth. I believe that the study of these highly complex sublimely ordered logical processes may serve to inform science and spirituality providing deeper insight into the mysteries of life and our place in the universe. Within this perspective, paint becomes more than just another medium, for me it is an alchemical sacrament. ...

Michelle Daly - I am interested in capturing moments often felt more strongly then seen. This idea has taken many forms in painting, drawing, making, and living. Paintings here include a series of works that strive to articulate a tenuous balance between process and finished artwork. I approach each painting as a dialogue with no preconceived intention. I use a combination of found and invented shapes that reference both geometry and the natural world. I build the compositions in layers, reworking the surface, adding and deleting information. This process continues until I find the moment when the work is resolved, but just barely. I am searching for the place with each painting when the process is still evident, yet there are moments that are unconventionally beautiful. This idea has lead me to begin a series of smaller works that seek to explore the more narrative quality of abstract painting. I view each work as a fragment or short story, building together into something that is perhaps more. I am also exploring ideas of noticing space in a series of drawings known as "the space between" These drawings take negative space as their subject matter, and look for deeper interest in the way such ...
