Artwork Description:
For this portrait of artist Jasper D'Ambrosi shortly after his untimely death in 1986, Stonehenge paper was laminated to the stretched canvas. Acrylic was then applied, scumbbled, and scratched to reveal the layers underneath. The paintbrush, relief print, and carborundum embedded in the acrylic are references to his versatility as an artist. Words written with oil paint, acrylic and graphite are those of former employees in mourning. The work was shown in several competitions, including a national exhibit in Los Angeles, the city of Jasper's birth.
