] beyond the spice islands [ 3 years have gone by since coming to borneo. i feel i have gathered sufficient elements to create the paintings i wish to create. In 2004 and 2005 i will be concentrating on these two parallel series beyond batik and beyond the spice islands. all new paintings will fall into either one of these groupings. in beyond the spice islands i do not intend to take you beyond a known geographical/historical place but rather beyond our normal everyday plane of perception to a place where feeling is more important than vision and enhances what we see to give us a new sense of who and where we are.
