Artwork Description:
This painting and the next 9 belongs to the collection of work entitled The Cells. It is a series of acrylic and oil paintings where each of them is composed of hundreds of circles that represent live cells in culture painted in an abstract format. Paint was used as the medium because of the unique nature it possesses. It is a palette of a variety of colors where each of them contains infinite numbers of hues. In addition, it can be manipulated easily and be used at different viscosity. These characteristics of paint give me enough freedom to express in the way I want to.
The Cells series was inspired by my own experience working as a researcher in the biotech field. I perform scientific experiments on live human cells cultured in small chambers. As I observe the characteristic and behavior of the cells with a microscope I am fascinated by how much they resemble those that are common in our human society. I imagine myself diving into the microscopic environment where these cells are and identifying all the similarities related to the human race. The observation and feelings derived create a mood that is reflected in the shapes, colors and composition on my canvas. Like the human kind, there are times these cells enjoy one another~{CT~} company while other times each cell just want to be alone. In addition, similar to the human beings in the society, each individual cell is unique. And then there are ones that are noticeable among others~{!&~} All of these characteristics have contributed to the idea behind ~{E5~}he Cells~{!&~}
