Artwork Description:
6.30 am, the sun rose above the horizon 5 minutes ago. Looking west you see the highest peak of Mount Kenya, Kirinyaga in Gikuyu. For the Gikuyu people it is a holy mountain, the abode of Ngai, the supreme creator.
This view is seen from Point Lenata, 4985 mts above sealevel. We are where the earth is the widest, not far from the equator. Mount Kenya is the second highest mountain of Africa. An unforgettable experience.
One might think it is a few minutes later than the other painting of Mount Kenya as the sun rises very fast on the Equator and the projected shade from Point Lenata is different...
Oilpaint on stretched canvas.
