Artwork Description:
This is a landscape of a large park area in Eugene, Oregon. It is an excellent example of the use of "macchie" (patches or spots of color) as the main elements of landscape painting. Note a strng tonal structure, a strong contrast between darks and lights. This introduces an element f abstraction into the painting. I call my style "American verismo" since it is baed on "dal vero" (after life) and "verism" (realism or life) in the Italian tradition.
